Arrhythmia is heart rhythm problem which occurs when the electrical impulses that coordinate your heartbeats don’t work properly, causing your heart to beat irregularly, or to fast, or too slow, or to miss a beat. Your heart may feel like it’s fluttering or racing.
Arrhythmia may be caused by coronary artery disease or an electrolyte imbalance Potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium are the substances in your blood which make up electrolytes. They help conduct the electrical impulses in your heart. If the electrolytes in your blood are too high or too low it can affect your heart’s electrical impulses and contribute to the development of arrhythmia. Arrhythmia affects millions of people in just America alone and can be life threatening.
My Arrhythmia Onset
My wife and I were on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa when I experienced arrhythmia. On January 1, 1999, we went out to a remote village with a dear friend who had joined the Church, to celebrate a traditional GRAND FET. It is their biggest celebration of the year, and it was so exciting to be part of it.
By accident, I got poisoned, causing arrhythmia. I was really sick for the following week. We only had two months left for our mission, and I felt I would get the help needed when we got home. I chose not to go to the doctors there.
Choosing Arrhythmia Solutions
The Church provided us both with a medical exam when we got home. Because of my arrhythmia they put me on a 24 hour (night and day) monitor. After reading the results, the doctor told me this was life threatening and I had two choices: 1) they could put me on medicine, which I would need to take for the rest of my life; or 2) have surgery. One of the best heart surgeons in the country, Dr. Wang, practiced in Provo, and he could probably fix the problem.
I told the doctor I liked option 3) to seek a priesthood blessing and to study what herbs might heal arrhythmia. I studied Dr. Christopher’s Herb book and started taking several herbs along with Hawthorne Berry juice which was one of the best things for the heart. In three months my arrhythmia was gone! THANK YOU, LORD!
Return of Arrhythmia
When I had my heart attack in August 2016, the arrhythmia came back with a vengeance, and part of the hospital medications I received during my recovery was to deal with this problem. However, when I had my two strokes in Houston in 2018, it was found that the arrhythmia caused clot build up in the heart and those breaking loose caused my strokes. Learning this, I have been using Hawthorne Berry juice religiously since. I have also found that taking liquid CoQ10 daily along with a good night’s sleep helps. Of course, a good diet and exercise have contributed as well has reduced my arrhythmia significantly. It is not gone, but my heart steadily is getting better.
Fortunately, we have a lot Hawthorne berry trees in the area where we live, and my sweetheart wife picks them and makes Hawthorne berry juice for me. You can also buy it in health food stores.
Clean Bill of Health
The body is miraculous in how it can heal, and when the blessings of the Lord are added to what He has already designed, we stand in awe at our loving Lord. My last appointment with Dr. Allen gave me a clean bill of health! He said, “I’ll see you next year!” for an annual checkup .
