Insight on How To Love

The notion of  “How to Love”  stems from, not only our own personal experiences and education, it includes our spiritual belief system as well.  Besides the Bible, the Book of Mormon gives some specific guidelines.

I learned a very important lesson recently from my dear friend, Chauncey Riddle.  “Loving Offensively” was the point. Now, that sounds offensive but let me explain.

What is an Ideal Society?

An ideal society is promised, and soon, which is exciting.  But what is it?  What can we do to best prepare to be part of it and to help it come forth?

Look at the definition of a society; it is, “the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community.”  Presently, our society seems to be positioned in the “less” category” as it appears to be in a state of disruption, confusion, and conflict. The conflict appears to center around individualism (priority given to the individual) and collectivism (priority given to the group or the state.)

Also, far from ideal, Americans are becoming less healthy as a nation in comparison to others (we are now ranked 38th); yet, our health-care costs are the highest per capita of any in the world, which is a massive contradiction with a message for us if we will pay attention.

Who Sets the Standard?

Healing My Back Pain

Healing back pain comes to the forefront of priorities after one has experienced a back injury that produces severe or unmanageable pain. I have personally had such an experience.

In 1970, I was serving as Bishop of the Boulder II Ward in the Denver West Stake in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Elder’s President, Bud Harrison, and I (just the two of us) were moving a piano for a member of our ward, and I crunched my back. I chose not to go to the doctor and lived with it even though it got worse over time. Continue reading Healing My Back Pain

Fundamental Messages for a Strong Immunity

It is wonderful to know there are 100% successful cures for COVID-19

A strong immune system is vital with the COVID-19 challenge and for generally keeping ourselves healthy.  I have added two blog articles because of the COVID-19 challenge.  I reference the outstanding work of Dr. Zelenko, who has treated over 3,000 cases of COVID and has had 0.0% mortality with those who follow his procedure.  Several others have highly successful procedures.

But, are we missing fundamental messages that will keep our health at the most optimum level throughout our lifetimes?  Here, I add significantly to the Harvard Medical School list, which suggests the following to boost your immunity system:

Choose a Healthy Lifestyle

·       Don’t smoke.
·       Eat a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and low in saturated fat.
·       Exercise regularly.
·       Maintain a healthy weight.
·       Control your blood pressure.
·       If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
·       Get adequate sleep.
·       Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.
·       Get regular medical screening tests for people in your age group and risk category

What I Have Learned Since My Heart Attack

It has been a little over five months since I had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. That little trip resulted in quadruple, open-heart, bypass surgery. Since then, “Heart Health” and “General Health” have been uppermost on my mind which, has lead me to undertake hours of research. (I have provided a link below in which I share my research.)

What I Have Come to Appreciate

Handel’s Messiah

I was sleigh riding with some of our grandchildren and they were talking about the most beautiful music they had ever heard. I asked them what is the most beautiful music ever composed? To help them, I told them that the lyrics were from the most popular book ever written.

The glorious atonement is the most important event in the history of the world, and Handel’s Messiah is the best musical every written to celebrate what our Savior has done and is doing for us; the Atonement over came death and hell (the Fall of Adam and Eve), offers forgiveness for all our sins, resurrection for all, redemption for the world, and a fullness of joy for the faithful.  How can we imagine a more loving gift from our Loving Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son.  I just listened to the best performance I have heard of it.

How To Avoid A Heart Attack – Number One Killer

The topic of “How To Prevent a Heart Attack” comes a little too late for many who have suffered a surprise attack. No one ever believes it will happen to them, that is, until it takes place.

On 1 August 2016, my attention was dynamically focused because of a heart attack. I thank the Lord for it as I have learned a ton and many blessings have come out of it. Knowing what I know now, I believe I wouldn’t have needed a zipper up my sternum as a result of doctors performing open-heart surgery which required a quadruple by-pass. I believe what I have learned is important for you.

Health Benefits of Goij Berries – Growing Goji Berries

screen-shot-2016-11-06-at-8-29-44-amThe health benefits of Goji berries are huge. They not only provide high levels of antioxidants and nutrients, they help stabilize blood sugar, detoxify the liver and keep your energy and mood up.  In addition to those benefits, it is known to boost fertility, and promote eye health and healthy skin.

Those are a lot of  health benefits from a little berry that is not only delicious but they are easy to grow.

Goji Berries One of Top Anti-Oxidant Foods

Yesterday, I smiled when I saw goji berries at the top of the ten best anti-oxidant foods. My Sweetheart, who is also my wife of nearly 58 years, had just picked a bunch of them.  Online, I saw them for $20 a pound. We used to buy them for $2/lb. at Chao’s Asian food market on University Ave. in Provo, Utah.

Vitamin D sun The amazing benefits of Vitamin D.

Winter is coming.  One of the benefits for taking Vitamin D is to be free from influenza and build your immunity.

Vitamin D is generated in the skin by high-angle sun exposure, which you get in the summer time; hence, the higher incidence of the flu and cold in the winter months.

Vitamin D Deficiency

Most Americans are deficient in vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin) with consequences more serious than most of us have thought.  Dr. John J. Cannell, founder of the Vitamin D Council discovered that his patients in the hospital did not get influenza, while all the wards around those of his patients, were “involved in fighting the influenza epidemic.”  He noted that “All of the patients on my ward had been taking 2,000 units of vitamin D every day”.  Now, the recommended dosage is higher; for adults it is 5,000 IU/day and 1,000 IU per day for each 25 pounds of body weight for children.

Finding Your Purpose In Life – Why Are You Here?

Finding Your Purpose in Life and Why are You Here?

life-purpose·       If God is good, why does He allow so much pain, suffering, and evil in the world?
·       How can I avoid disease and be vibrant and healthy in the midst of all the pollution?
·       I have heard stress is a killer; how do I best deal with its killing effects?
·       Can I know God is there for me?
·       Will He help me know my mission and purpose in life?
·       How can I best use my time and talents?

Are we here to suffer for 75 years and then get turned into dust?  How pathetic is the atheist’s view?

All of the above questions are answered in my book, It’s About Time, as I draw upon some 207 of the world’s experts and on inspiration from the heavens, and I use an advanced scientific method in providing these answers.  Here I share a synopsis.
