What Is The Most Important Thing for Healthy Living?

healthy livingBy healthy living, we mean in body, mind, and spirit (emotionally, physically, and spiritually).

Is it eating healthful, organic foods?
Is it doing proper exercise?
Is it having a good environment?
Is it having healthy, loving relationships with the Lord and all of His children?

Is it properly dealing with all the stresses in our lives?

This morning, I had a fun conversation with the Lord around these questions.  I learned a new lesson for me.  An attitude of gratitude goes a long way toward good health in body, mind, and spirit.  I thank the Lord for being willing to and wanting to do the will of the Father in suffering infinite pain, which only a God could do, that He covered our sins, and that He completely overcame the effects of the Fall – overcoming death and hell to bring us back into the presence of God.

Healing My Back Pain

Healing back pain comes to the forefront of priorities after one has experienced a back injury that produces severe or unmanageable pain. I have personally had such an experience.

In 1970, I was serving as Bishop of the Boulder II Ward in the Denver West Stake in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Elder’s President, Bud Harrison, and I (just the two of us) were moving a piano for a member of our ward, and I crunched my back. I chose not to go to the doctor and lived with it even though it got worse over time. Continue reading Healing My Back Pain

Fundamental Messages for a Strong Immunity

It is wonderful to know there are 100% successful cures for COVID-19

A strong immune system is vital with the COVID-19 challenge and for generally keeping ourselves healthy.  I have added two blog articles because of the COVID-19 challenge.  I reference the outstanding work of Dr. Zelenko, who has treated over 3,000 cases of COVID and has had 0.0% mortality with those who follow his procedure.  Several others have highly successful procedures.

But, are we missing fundamental messages that will keep our health at the most optimum level throughout our lifetimes?  Here, I add significantly to the Harvard Medical School list, which suggests the following to boost your immunity system:

Choose a Healthy Lifestyle

·       Don’t smoke.
·       Eat a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and low in saturated fat.
·       Exercise regularly.
·       Maintain a healthy weight.
·       Control your blood pressure.
·       If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
·       Get adequate sleep.
·       Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.
·       Get regular medical screening tests for people in your age group and risk category

What I Have Learned Since My Heart Attack

It has been a little over five months since I had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. That little trip resulted in quadruple, open-heart, bypass surgery. Since then, “Heart Health” and “General Health” have been uppermost on my mind which, has lead me to undertake hours of research. (I have provided a link below in which I share my research.)

What I Have Come to Appreciate

How To Avoid A Heart Attack – Number One Killer

The topic of “How To Prevent a Heart Attack” comes a little too late for many who have suffered a surprise attack. No one ever believes it will happen to them, that is, until it takes place.

On 1 August 2016, my attention was dynamically focused because of a heart attack. I thank the Lord for it as I have learned a ton and many blessings have come out of it. Knowing what I know now, I believe I wouldn’t have needed a zipper up my sternum as a result of doctors performing open-heart surgery which required a quadruple by-pass. I believe what I have learned is important for you.

Goji Berries One of Top Anti-Oxidant Foods

Yesterday, I smiled when I saw goji berries at the top of the ten best anti-oxidant foods. My Sweetheart, who is also my wife of nearly 58 years, had just picked a bunch of them.  Online, I saw them for $20 a pound. We used to buy them for $2/lb. at Chao’s Asian food market on University Ave. in Provo, Utah.

Vitamin D sun The amazing benefits of Vitamin D.

Winter is coming.  One of the benefits for taking Vitamin D is to be free from influenza and build your immunity.

Vitamin D is generated in the skin by high-angle sun exposure, which you get in the summer time; hence, the higher incidence of the flu and cold in the winter months.

Vitamin D Deficiency

Most Americans are deficient in vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin) with consequences more serious than most of us have thought.  Dr. John J. Cannell, founder of the Vitamin D Council discovered that his patients in the hospital did not get influenza, while all the wards around those of his patients, were “involved in fighting the influenza epidemic.”  He noted that “All of the patients on my ward had been taking 2,000 units of vitamin D every day”.  Now, the recommended dosage is higher; for adults it is 5,000 IU/day and 1,000 IU per day for each 25 pounds of body weight for children.
