It has been a little over five months since I had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. That little trip resulted in quadruple, open-heart, bypass surgery. Since then, “Heart Health” and “General Health” have been uppermost on my mind which, has lead me to undertake hours of research. (I have provided a link below in which I share my research.)
What I Have Come to Appreciate
Life is wonderful, and I am glad the Lord has allowed me to continue to enjoy my life, my wife, family, and friends and to continue to live in this the most exciting time in history. I thank the Lord for my rapid recovery, which has allowed me to continue to serve, share, and teach those insights that have come from my research.
Even though Edna and I have always been pretty careful about our diet and I have always loved to exercise, walking with her, snowshoeing, riding my bike, and cross-country skiing, I was unaware of many key elements. Since my heart attack I have come to better appreciate other components of heart and general health such as:
1. The importance of stress management
2. The importance of loving relationships
3. The importance of consistent aerobic exercise.
4. Through my recent research I have come to realize how bad our processed food industry is, especially all the bad fats that flow into our bodies from the traditional American diet. I have learned the importance of including good fats in our daily intake, which so many Mediterranean countries have always embraced. Sugar and soft drinks are slow poisons.
5. Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables are so important rather than the produce that are sprayed with toxic chemicals or have been genetically modified. Tasty salads are much improved with homemade dressings rather than commercial offerings, which are filled with so many preservatives and bad fats.
6. Drinking a lot of good water is important and is difficult to find. Our traditional culinary sources are often chlorinated, and those sold in the market place are not ideal. I found a solution that works for me.
7. I have discovered the great importance of being one with nature and our Creator, and that we are all interconnected. The first two great commandments are there for a reason; to love God and our neighbor brings a grand harmony into our lives.
As I have incorporated all of these important factors into my diet and life choices, my blood pressure is now under control without medication; in fact, I have been able to get off of all my meds. I have found homeostasis, peace and balance in my life. Best of all, I feel closer to the Lord.
My Research Findings
As promised in my last blog post, I want to share with you very important findings that I have discovered in my “Heart Health” research. Because this information is so key to good “General Health” as well as “Heart Health”, I have put the data in “article” form so you can read it online or download it for your own study of the resources.
