He took us to this wonderful Buddhist restaurant that we walked to on the top of a mountain—sitting on the floor eating an amazing variety of vegetarian foods.
We made friends with Nickolay (Nick) Koshelyaevsky from the USSR in 1989, while David was participating in the Consultative Committee for the Definition of the Second at the BIPM in Paris. We gave Nick a copy of the Book of Mormon, and he joined the Church and we got to take him to the temple in Hawaii some years later (1996).
Nick invited David to give a talk in Suzdal, Russia, in 2014, at an International Symposium on Time and Space, where they presented him with an award signed by 40 of their top scientists honoring the 50th anniversary of the publication of his master’s thesis, which gave birth to the Allan variance. That was the year he published his first book, It’s About Time, and he was able to give a copy to Nick.
His books are somewhat autobiographical—using his life experiences. Time and Eternity, the End-Times and Beyond Revealed, is a book of hope—explaining beautifully what our infinitely loving Heavenly Father has in store for His children and how we can best prepare for the Lord’s Coming. As a retired US Forester, and also a retired public health inspector, all in the Western USA, I naturally view everything from the scientific perspective, and I am keenly impressed with Dr. Allan’s creative understanding of the scientific fundamentals that operate in all things, animate and inanimate. He simply does not shy away from identifying truth in all things, micro- or macroscopic, regardless of whether it is politically, socially, or religiously sensitive.

It is obvious that Dr. Allan has no timidity or hesitance to do other than to verify true science and defend it as the trustworthy order of every spec of our universe. Man is indeed a spiritually-originated being, on a pre-planned mission of enormous significance to each of us – personally and collectively. Further Thoughts
I see God’s love manifest in every direction I turn. To honor Him, I have had the size of my new book printed in the dimensions of the Divine ratio or Golden Mean: 8 ½” x 5 ¼” = 1.618… I was shown this one morning as I was praying that this dimension was how the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon were printed; apparently, Joseph Smith was inspired to do it that way. I got up and measured it—having a replica—and happily found it to be 1.62.
I was so pleased to know this. If you buy my new book, it will be the only book you have with that dimension, unless you have a replica of the Book of Mormon. I doubt you have an original; they are priceless. We have over two thousand books in our library, and I have not found another one in the dimensions of the Divine ratio.
I know God is the Master Physicist, Master Mathematician, and Master in any good discipline you can think of. I was delighted recently to learn of the discovery of how God uses numbers in creation in amazing pictorial ways: the spiral shape of galaxies, numbers are all over in His creations. Indeed, He is the Master Mathematician and the new fast digital computers have revealed this beauty in His creations, which heretofore were unknown. It is like He is using modern technology to help us to know of His infinite Mind and of the beauty of numbers in creation as part of the last days—making all things known. “Modern Technology Reveals the Mind of God.”
And, Beautiful Mathematics in the Mind of God was revealed with the advent of digital computers.
What is your Gift to the World?
We all are given Gifts as we came into this life (D&C 46:11). One of our grand opportunities in our mortal journey is to exercise those gifts as we bless the lives of others. There is great joy in doing so, and the Lord blesses us in our efforts to do so. Like the parable of the talents. As we do this, the Lord will say to us, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord (Matt. 25:21).
As we seek to develop additional gifts, our circle of blessings grows as we use them to bless Heavenly Father’s precious sons and daughters. “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God” (Mosiah 2:17).
The second great commandment to “love your neighbor” has a major component as we listen with love in our hearts to others and as we rejoice in their gifts as they share them—thus amplifying the goodness in the world. We can all offer the gift of love. If everyone lived the first two great commandments, it would solve all the problems in the world. That is why LOVE is the first law of heaven, and Heavenly Father exemplified it perfectly as He gave us the gift of His Beloved Son (John 3:16).
May you and yours have a most WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING and onward blessings that I hope you enjoy as you use your wonderful gifts and may you grow in them.
