A Fundamental Event In Premortal Time
In premortal, Satan offered a plan that would destroy our agency (free choice) with the claim that he would “…redeem all mankind,” and he rebelled against Father’s perfect plan of happiness, “And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.” (Moses 4:4, bold is mine) We all knew of this rebellion, and we all rejoiced when Christ said, “Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.” (Moses 4:2) Satan, in his chicanery, will take captive all who will “not hearken unto” the voice of the Son of God.
Satan’s Rebellion caused a War in Heaven
That rebellion caused a war in heaven and it is being enraged today by the globalists (Rev. 12). In fact, the globalists, who are working for Satan, are making every effort to take away our God-given sovereignty – the right to choose. Satan knows it is his last hour before the Savior comes.
His main tools are to keep us from “hearkening to His voice,” which brings peace, love, and joy, and instead move us into hate and fear. There he can entice us with all the other voices, and some may sound very good at the time, but which are designed to lead away from the voice of the Son of God and into captivity for those who listen to them.
The Church Is Under Condemnation
And now the church is under condemnation because of this sin “And by this, you may know they are under the bondage of sin because they come not unto me. For whoso cometh not unto me is under the bondage of sin. And whoso receiveth not my voice is not acquainted with my voice, and is not of me. And by this, you may know the righteous from the wicked, and the whole world groaneth under sin and darkness even now. And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received – Which vanity and unbelief have brought the whole church under condemnation.” (D&C 85:49-56)
And the Lord goes on to say, that this condemnation remains unless we repent, come unto Him, and remember “the Book of Mormon,” which He gave us to help prepare for His coming. President Russell M. Nelson profoundly said, “I promise that as you daily immerse yourself in the Book of Mormon, you can be immunized against the evils of the day.”
From the Beginning
From the beginning, Adam was told to “hearken unto my voice. “If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be baptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace truth, which is Jesus Christ, the only name which shall be given under heaven, whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men, ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, asking all things in his name, and whatsoever ye shall ask, it shall be given you. (Moses 6:52; bold mine)
Over the Ages, the Lord Has Warned Us
And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice; I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations…[which would destroy them]. (Judges 2:20-21; bold mine)
Now We Live In That Day
Now, We Live in that Day: “… when they would not hear his voice should be cut off from among the people.” (JS-H 40; 1 Nephi 22:20-21; bold mine) In other words, all those who will not hear His voice will not make it into the millennium and will be destroyed. How important is that to know?
The logical counterpose to this scripture is, “If you want to be with Him at His Coming, you will hearken to His voice.” The Lord further gives the extremely important warning, “But if they will not turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, I will suffer them, yea, I will suffer my people, O house of Israel, that they shall go through among them, and shall tread them down, and they shall be as salt that hath lost its savor, which is thenceforth good for nothing but o be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of my people, O house of Israel.” (3 Nephi 16:15; bold me) This is part of WW III and the outcome depends whether we “hearken to His voice,” or not.
“And again I say, hearken unto my voice, lest death shall overtake you; in an hour when ye think not the summer shall be passed, and the harvest ended, and your souls not saved.” (D&C 45:2; bold mine)
The Lord is Gathering His Elect
We live in that exciting day when the Lord is gathering his elect – all Who will Hearken to His Voice“ And even so will I gather mine elect from the four quarters of the earth, even as many as will believe in me, and harken unto my voice.” (D&C 33:6; bold mine) In the past, He reached out in invitation saying He would gather them as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, “and ye would not.” http://itsabouttimebook.com/spiritual-health-as-a-hen-gathers-chickens/ But in our day, He has promised, “Listen to the voice of Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, the Great I AM, whose arm of mercyt hat atoned for your sins. Who will gather His people even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, even as many as will hearken to my voice and humble themselves before me, and call upon me in mighty prayer.” (D&C 29:1-2; bold mine)
We see again the great importance of hearkening to His voice, that we may receive His sure promise that He “will” gather us in under His wings.
Trust Not in the Arm of Flesh
We know we can trust in God. http://itsabouttimebook.com/trust-in-the-lord-king-james-bible/ As we treasure up His word, we have His promise that we will not be deceived. (JS-M 37)
As we may receive counsel from our fellow human beings, we have a responsibility to know if it conforms with His word. By the Spirit of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things. (Moroni 10:5)
How do We Know a Prophet is Speaking for the Lord?
The Savior gives us both a necessary and sufficient condition to know if a prophet is true or false: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:15-20) A true prophet will not say, “Come follow me,” but will bring us to Christ and tell us to follow Him. He will testify of the Creation, the Fall, and the infinite atonement– overcoming the effects of the Fall, covering our sins, and providing a glorious resurrection for all in Father’s perfect plan of happiness.
Can a prophet be both a false prophet and a true prophet? “By their fruits ye shall know them.” All men are imperfect, and women to! The only perfect man is the Lord, Jesus the Christ — the only begotten and first born of the Father. A true prophet speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost, and we have a responsibility to ascertain the truth by that same Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21; Moroni 10:5)
How do We Hear His Voice — giving us a Sure Foundation?
The Lord can and will speak to us directly – putting His words in our minds and in our hearts, as we ask, seek, and knock in sincerity. (Matt. 7:7-8) We all have guardian angels, and they “speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ… feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” (2 Nephi 32:3)
“Therefore, whoso heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house on a rock.” (3 Nephi 14:24) “… remember, remember, it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.” (Helaman 5:12)
