Most Important Celebration – Easter

The Glorious Resurrection of our Lord

Most don’t realize that the Lord’s glorious resurrection is the capstone to His infinite atonement, and when it occurred 2000 years ago the early saints were beyond rejoicing as they witnessed the risen Lord.  For Christ to go from infinite suffering to infinite glory in those three days changed their lives and the world forever.  The early Christians could not contain their joy knowing, “He is risen!” – as proclaimed in their lives, as they lived and shared this most astounding message of hope.  Because of the paramount importance of the infinite atonement, I believe Easter should be our most important celebration and with great rejoicing.

The gospel is not only the “good news;” it is the BEST NEWS, because everyone will be resurrected, and if we live the gospel we have the hope of a fullness of joy in the life to come.  Handel’s oratorio “Messiah” has touched millions of lives with this message: “HALLELUJAH!…For now is Christ risen from the dead… Since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive…  Death is swallowed up in victory…  Worthy is the Lamb.”

The growth of the early Christian Church – known as “The Way” (John 14:6) – was spectacular with this testimony of the risen Lord deep in their hearts and in spite of terrible persecutions.  Mary Magdalene, who first saw the risen Lord, brought hundreds into the fold of God.  Most modern Christians have lost the valiancy of the early saints, who saw the risen Lord or personally knew those who had seen Him.

Resurrection – Capstone of the Atonement

Most Christians look to Christ to be forgiven of their sins and that believing on Him is the door way to salvation.  And do not the scriptures teach us this?  Satan will do anything he can to take us away from understanding the infinite atonement. However, the searching soul will ask, “Have false traditions crept in so that we miss the full power and beauty of the infinite atonement of our Lord and Savior?”  This blog article and following ones will better help us appreciate the infinite atonement.

The Capstone of His Infinite Atonement

Most Christians look to the cross and to His suffering for forgiveness of sins.  We often hear the phrase, “We are thankful for His atoning sacrifice.”  When studied, we find that His glorious resurrection is the capstone step of His infinite atonement, and when it occurred  2000 years ago the early saints saw it as such. For Christ to go from infinite suffering to infinite glory in those three days changed the world forever, and the early Christians could not contain their joy knowing, “He is risen!” – as proclaimed in the scriptures and so profoundly in Handel’s oratorio “Messiah.”

We find there are seven fantastic accomplishments in His infinite atonement, and seven sub-steps to each of these.  Seven is the number of perfection or completion in the Lord’s arithmetic.  And the scriptures outline all 49 of these steps.

Gratitude For The Resurrection of Our Savior

Is there a more important event in the history of the Earth than the resurrection of our Lord and Savior?

In speaking of the atonement of Jesus Christ, we often hear:

  • In prayers
  • In testimonies
  • In General Conference

“I am grateful for the atoning sacrifice of our Savior,” or “We are grateful for Thy atoning sacrifice.”  Often, His glorious resurrection is not mentioned or included in our gratitude for His infinite atonement.  Most Christians look to His suffering  on the cross to pay for their sins, as they believe in Him.

The Infinite Atonement of Jesus Christ

How do you comprehend the incomprehensible? As mortals, we cannot! But let us seek with body, mind, and spirit to internalize the Lord’s infinite atonement, then we are promised Eternal Life–the greatest of all the gifts of God. Seven is the number of perfection or completeness in the Lord’s arithmetic, and there are seven steps in the infinite atonement. I have found seven sub-steps for each of the seven steps, and I will share those here with scriptural references.

In addition to the scriptures, Nephi tells us of “other books” (1 Nephi 13:39) to come forth in our day and we are seeing that happen in amazing ways to help us better understand the “Infinite Atonement.”  Dezert-Owl, who has become a good friend, has over 30 Tranz-Literations and several supporting dictionaries on Amazon, on LULU.com, and on KOBO.com. HIs GOSPEL OF THE WISE-STRANGERS by Joseph of Aramathia is 247 pages of GOLD. And Dezert’s “The CRUCIFIXION REPORT of PONTUS PILOT to: TIBERIUS CAESAR” is a major contribution. Ferrar Fenton, M.R.A.S. (1832-1920) was a London businessman, a manufacturer, and financial organizer. He is perhaps most well known for his translation of The Bible in Modern English, which is commonly referred to as the Ferrar Fenton Bible. Fenton made translation of the Bible a lifetime avocation, spending approximately fifty years working on his translation, with the goal “to study the Bible absolutely in its original languages, to ascertain what its writers actually said and thought.” Ferrar Fenton – Wikipedia. The AQUARIAN GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST by Levi is a monumental contribution covering the Savior’s life from birth until Pentecost. The above books go far beyond the traditional apocrypha that one finds in some Bibles, and there are others we could mention as well.

Essentially all Christians miss the richness of our Lord’s infinite and perfect atonement. Most in my own church as well. I hear members and leaders express gratitude for the atoning sacrifice, and last General Conference (1-2 April 2023) I heard several express gratitude for the atoning sacrifice and the resurrection–missing the Lord’s glorious visit to the Spirit world as the sixth step in the infinite atonement–opening up missionary work there and letting the prisoners go free. There are nearly ten times more folks there than here below.

In a world that is turning upside down, as Satan knows it is his last hour and while anticipating the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, there is nothing more important for us to do than to come unto Him. Those who do not will be “cut-off” at His Coming. As we contemplate what He has done, is doing, and will do for us, it fills our souls with the deepest of gratitude.  As we come unto Him and repent, mercy is extended to us satisfying the demands of justice and totally overcoming the effects of the fall of Adam and Eve.  He is the way, the truth, and the life to bring us back to the Father. (John 14:6)  We praise Him and adore Him forever.  And our souls reach to their depths as we thank the Father for the gift of His Son, who worked out this perfect and infinite atonement bringing perfection to Father’s perfect plan of happiness.  Our gratitude is overflowing.  Think of it, His infinite atonement opens the door to perfection for us along with a fullness of joy and perfection for the earth as well. Satan is increasing the moral decay in the world because he knows it is his last hour.

Let us look at these SEVEN INCREDIBLE STEPS IN HIS INFINITE ATONEMENT.  My hope is that like the disciples who walked with Him on the road to Emmaus, “Did not our hearts burn with delight while he was talking to us by the way…” “while he opened to us the scriptures?” (Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ, Section XXI, Chapter 174:24; Luke 24:32)
