Saving Our Nation Through Prayer

Prayer, as our communication opportunity with God, includes requests for heavenly intervention, as we face life’s challenges.  Based on God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, we have hope in the preservation of this county — our nation under God. It reads: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their [sinful] ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The future of our nation is in the hands of righteous, prayerful citizens, as well as millions across the globe, who have great respect for “The Land of the Free.”  God will hear their prayers.  Contrary to the belief of most politicians, they are not the ultimate solution to the world’s problems.  Electing righteous leaders is key, but God ultimately is in control.

On the 26th of September (2020) Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, a Messianic Jew and author of  The Harbinger, conducted a prophetic day of national and international prayer at the Washington D.C. Mall, as the last chance to save this nation based upon God’s promise.  There was a great outpouring of God’s Spirit as thousands attended the event in person and millions joined in prayer by way of live streaming.  On that day, I focused my faith and prayers for this nation as I listened live.

President Russell M. Ballard, at the General Conference (4 Oct. 2020) reached out to the world in a powerful plea to “Watch Ye, Therefore, and Pray Always.”    President Ballard said we are at a crossroads.  In a previous blog post, in detail, I discussed:  Our Nation is at a Crossroads!

Research Without God

Yesterday, 7 Oct. ’20, my family got together to celebrate my 84th birthday, and one of the gifts I received was a book, America’s Revolutionary MIND, by Professor C. Bradley Thompson.  It is a brilliantly researched book, but without God, nor any mention that the moral ethics of Christianity were the foundation of this land of liberty.  The Bible had more impact on the writers of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution than any other book.  Most Americans don’t know that extremely important basis for our inspired Declaration of Independence and US Constitution.

Early Covenants With God

Tim Ballard’s recent book, The Pilgrim Hypothesis, is a beautiful explanation of how this “Land of Liberty” came about, as those who debarked the Mayflower 400 years ago. On November 11th of 1620, the Mayflower Compact was signed by all heads of household. This document was in the form of a covenant, not only made with God but also between each other.  Tim’s research into the deep-seated roots of faith the pilgrims embraced, laid the foundation for this great nation to share the gospel with the world, for the restoration of the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and now for the beginning of the gathering of scattered Israel from “the four corners of the earth.”

Think Independently

My dear friend, Professor Chauncey C. Riddle (Emeritus Professor of Philosophy of Religion) shares a profound insight in his book, THINK INDEPENDENTLY, that in America both historians and scientists have operated under the false premise that histories and science should exclude God and things spiritual. This false premise has led to a secularized education system, and an enormous and most hurtful increase in atheism and agnosticism.  Professor Thompson’s book is a case in point.  Forgetting God, this nation will be destroyed, and if it goes down, so does the world.

Hope In  Jesus Christ

Again, this nation will not be saved by science or technology.  Its hope for being saved is if Americans turn back completely to the God of this land, who is Jesus Christ.  Then the Lord will bless our efforts to bring about the greatest good in science, in technology, or in any other pursuit we follow in righteousness.

God’s goal for America is glorious – the ideal society called Zion (the pure in heart) and for the New Jerusalem to be built here.  It will happen with surety, and we can be part of it.  Obviously, massive repentance is needed.  Let us pray for that for ourselves and others.  God loves all of His children, but it is our choice whether we chose Him or not.

My talk, which was shared with the world on the 25th of September (my actual birth-date), as part of the Book of Mormon Evidence VIRTUAL EXPO, is entitled, “How to Best Prepare for Zion.”  Signing up allows you to listen to some 60 outstanding talks given as part of this conference — including Glenn Beck’s and David Barton’s great insights — for three months.

We Are At A Crossroads

Indeed, we are at a crossroads.  Let us fervently pray for our nation, for all Americans, for its leaders, and for all of Father’s children that they may all have a chance to hear the gospel.  Let us pray for ourselves to know what we can best do in the cause of Christ.  The prophecies are clear; we are in a battle; it is Christ and all true Christians vs. Satan and his minions and all who chose to listen to his titillating enticements.  It is now led by the elite, who seek for power, gain, and control of our lives.  They would have the state be sovereign, while God’s perfect plan of happiness makes us sovereign as His offspring.

We know who will win.  The wicked will be destroyed.  Worldliness will come to an end with the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, as He comes to reign as King of kings and Lord of Lords for a thousand years.  “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:” (Rev. 21:4)  Look to God and live the abundant life. (Alma 37:47; John 10:10).
