Love Your Enemies

We want to be children of our Heavenly Father in celestial realms of glory. This means we live the Divine Law of Love, which includes loving our enemies.

Michael Hart in his book, The Ranking of the Most (100) Influential Persons in History, found that most Christians do not love their enemies. So, Jesus was listed third in Hart’s ranking. His ranking is based on the person’s influence on the world community. Issac Newton and Mohammad were listed above Jesus. We know Hart’s ranking is wrong, because Jesus is the God, Jehovah, of the Old Testament. Jesus, clearly, should be first, because the Torah is the Law of Love, given to the world by Jehovah.

We are commanded to “Love Your Enemies”. Matthew 5:43-48: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. ‘ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”

Two Profound Examples of Loving Your Enemies

Louis Zamperini came to the Lord and immediately overcame his drunkenness and horrible nightmares. In learning the great importance of forgiveness, the Lord taught Louis to love his enemies. This totally changed Louis’s life.

Zamperini’s inspiring story is profoundly documented in Laura Hillenbrand’s bestselling book, Unbroken. The movie by the same title is both inspiring, unforgettable, and lifechanging. Louis may have been the first one to beat the record for the famous “four-minute mile” had it not been for WWII. Surviving 47 days in a life raft in the Pacific Ocean was a miracle. Then the beyond-comprehension cruelty he received in Japanese prisons caused him later to become an alcoholic and have horrible nightmares. His wife led him to a Billy Graham revival, and the Lord healed him.

During his conversion process, his mind went back to his time on the life raft. He had promised God, that if He would save his life, he would devote his life to God. The Lord then taught him how to forgive and to love his enemies. Louis spent the rest of his life in ministry work and had a great influence on a lot of people.

Immaculée Ilibagiza’s incredible story of how she learned to love her enemies is shared in her book, Left to Tell. Immaculée internalized the following three profound messages as part of her surviving the 1994 Rwandan Holocaust. She and seven other women hid for 91 days cramped in a bathroom of a local pastor’s home. They were hiding from those who would kill them. After learning these lessons, miracles occurred, and they were preserved against all odds while a million Rwandans were murdered.

Three Powerful Lessons for Living the Law of Love

1. Keep fear, doubt, hate, and worry out of your lives; these are Satan’s tools and are not of God.  

2. Pray every waking moment; the power of prayer is beyond our comprehension. He is always there for us if we will but reach out to Him. Through Him, we have power over Satan and his minions. Through her fervent prayers, the loving Lord visited her.

3. We need to forgive and love everyone – especially our enemies. The Lord will teach us, as we ask, how to love this intently. By loving her enemies and by forgiveness Immaculée gained power over her enemies. The power of love is greater than any other.

Book Report

I was so impressed with Immaculée Ilibagiza’s book, Left to Tell, that I wrote a book report: Book Report.

I highly recommend you read her book or my report, because in the days you will need what your learn there. Truly loving your enemies gives you power over them. You can walk by them and their eyes will not see you. They will drop their weapons in light of that power. Repeatedly, Immaculée witnessed that kind of loving power, as she and her friends escaped the holocaust.

I Share some Highlights from my Book Report:

Her highly respected and very intelligent father, anticipating the holocaust, asked a pastor friend to hide Immaculée. All of Immaculée’s family were killed in the holocaust, except her brother who was attending a university outside the country.

The killers were pressuring the pastor: “Where are the Tutsis? You know what we’ll do if we find them. Where is she, Pastor? Where is Immaculée? This is the last place she was seen. Where are you hiding her?”

Immaculée shared, “My spirit tumbled back into the arms of fear and doubt, and I was even more frightened than I’d been the first time the killers came. Their voices clawed at my flesh, and I felt like I was lying on a bed of burning coals. A sweeping wave of pain engulfed my body, and a thousand invisible needles stabbed my flesh. Yet I tried again to pray: Dear God, forgive me for my lapse of faith… I trust in You, God… I know that You will save us. You are stronger than the evil in this house…”

“Oh, God, please! I screamed silently. Why do You want me to go through this? Why? What else can I do to show You my love? I want to believe that You will save us, God. How can I have more faith? I’m praying so hard, God, so hard… but they’re so close, and I’m so tired! Oh, God… I’m so tired. I felt faint – consciousness slipped away from me until the killers’ thundering voices were only a soft, distant rumble.”

“Then I was sleeping… and dreaming a sweet dream of Jesus. I floated like a feather above the other women. I saw them trembling below me on the floor, holding their Bibles on their heads, begging God for mercy. I looked up and saw Jesus hovering above me in a pool of golden light, and his arms were reaching toward me. I smiled, and the constant aches and pains that had become part of my body after weeks of crouching disappeared. There was no hunger, no thirst, and no fear – I was so peaceful… so happy.”

“Then Jesus spoke: ‘Mountains are moved with faith, Immaculée, but if faith were easy, all the mountains would be gone. Trust in me, and know that I will never leave you. Trust in me, and have no more fear. Trust in me, and I will save you. I shall put my cross upon the door, and they will not reach you. Trust in me, and you shall live.’”

Many Miracles

Many amazing miracles followed as she saved the other women and herself from the holocaust.

During the 91 days, the Pastor would feed them scraps of food to keep them alive. He did that in the early morning hours so that the Hutus would not get suspicious of them hiding there. The Lord prompted her to learn English. Immaculée asked the Pastor for a French-English dictionary and some English books for her to read. He did that for her, and she had them read before they got out – a miracle all by itself.

Her dedication and devotion to the Lord are most inspiring. She went from 115 to 65 pounds during the 91 days in hiding with gnawing hunger as her continual companion. She kept her focus on the Lord’s will and her desire to be faithful to Him. Now she is circling the globe, inspiring countless thousands – fluently speaking in English or French.

In His Love and Timing

In the Lord’s infinite love, in His timing, He turns every evil into good. This horrible Rwandan holocaust – cost over a million lives. But it opened the door for many more than a million Rwandan Tutsi refugees from the 1959 and 1973 genocides to return to Rwanda from around the world. And they brought their children, grandchildren, and all manner of new cultural heritage and strange languages with them.  Immaculée’s above messages will help us abide in the days ahead, if we will internalize these messages as she did.

As horrible as was the 1994 Rwandan genocide, good things are continually coming out of it. Immaculée has written more books. She is now circling the globe with her most inspiring message of loving your enemies and loving and trusting the Lord. She has her own website. Be One With The Lord

Now, learning to love our enemies is essential if we desire to be ONE with the Lord. As horrible as the 1994 Rwandan holocaust was, much more dynamic will be the future cleansing of the earth. Before the Lord comes, the wicked will destroy the wicked, and great suffering will occur. This would not happen if people would repent and turn to God.

After it is over, we will know that He was with us through it all – like Immaculée. And we will see that it was all worth it. We will be caught up in the incredible joy and incompressible love in His presence. We will be privileged to be part of the love, peace, joy, and communion in that ideal society called Zion. As we move into the millennial epoch, we will enjoy His Divine leadership as He becomes our Lord of lords and our King of kings.

His presence will fill our souls with unspeakable love and joy.  May we learn from Immaculée’s lessons. Let us love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, strengths, and souls and our neighbors as ourselves. That love includes loving our enemies. Let us prepare for the great day of the Lord is my prayer. I know God loves you and is there for you. As we truly come unto Him, He will teach us how to love that intently and to love our enemies.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Summary

In summary, I share three aspects of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 1. Its origin and growth. 2. Highlights of its Plan of Salvation. And 3. Recent significant events. This article has a lot more information than the one I wrote in 1990. I wrote that one for a comparative religion debate that year at the University of Colorado. I was asked to represent our church at that time.

Count Leo Tolstoi’s Prophetic Perspective

A perspective can be gained from the following interview, which occurred in 1892. Dr. Andrew D. White, former president of Cornell University, was at the time serving as U.S. Ambassador to Germany. Dr. White, a frequent visitor of Count Leo Tolstoi, related the following conversation.

“Dr. White,” said Count Tolstoi, “I wish you would tell me about your American religion.”

“We have no state church in America.” replied Dr. White.

“I know that, but what about your American religion?”

Patiently then Dr. White explained to the Count that in America there are many religions, and that each person is free to belong to the particular church in which he or she is interested.

To this Tolstoi impatiently replied: “I know all of this, but I want to know about the American religion, Catholicism originated in Rome; the Episcopal Church originated in England; the Lutheran Church in Germany, but the Church to which I refer originated in America and is commonly known as the Mormon Church. What can you tell me of the teaching of the Mormons?”

“Well,” said Dr. White, “I know very little concerning them…”

Then Count Leo Tolstoi, in his honest and stern, but lovable manner, rebuked the ambassador. “Dr. White, I am greatly surprised and disappointed that a man of your great learning and position should be so ignorant on this important subject. The Mormon people teach the American religion; their principles teach the people not only of heaven and its attendant glories but also how to live so that their social and economic relations with each other are placed on a sound basis. If the people follow the teachings of this Church, nothing can stop their progress — it will be limitless. There have been great movements started in the past, but they have died or been modified before they reached maturity. If Mormonism is able to endure, unmodified, until it reaches the third and fourth generation, it is destined to become the greatest power the world has ever known.”

Upon his return to the States, Dr. White purchased a set of the Church’s canonical works and placed them in the Cornell University Library. Harold Bloom in his book, The American Religion, shares that changes have occurred over time in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will discuss that later.

Church Beginnings

Ironically, the Church had its beginning only some 60 miles north and west of Cornell near the little town of Palmyra. And it was only 72 years before this Tolstoi conversation,

In this vicinity in 1820, there was a significant religious revival. Joseph Smith, then in his 15th year was seeking to know which Church to join. In answer to his humble supplication, he was given a marvelous vision. Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ visited him. You can read his personal account in this link. In answer to his question, he was given an answer he did not expect. He was told to join none of them. He was told that the Lord would use him to restore the fullness of the gospel and the Lord’s Church.

With this First Vision to Joseph Smith, the heavens were opened again, as anciently. There followed a series of angelic ministrations. Many glorious truths were revealed. The next major heavenly manifestation resulted in the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.

The Word “Mormon”

The word “Mormon” is the name of a prophet who was born about 311 a.d. in ancient America. He was commanded by the Lord to make an abridgment of his people’s history. He made his record on gold plates, which record covered the previous one thousand years. His prophet-son Moroni added significant contributions to the record. Moroni abridged the Jaredite record covering about 1700 years. The Jaredites were led by the Lord to America just after the confusion of tongues. In about 421 a.d. he buried the record in a stone box in the Hill Cumorah. The Hill Cumorah was close to Joseph’s home near Palmyra, New York.

In the year 1827, as an angelic minister, Moroni gave the gold plates to Joseph Smith to translate by the gift and power of God. He finished the translation of the abridged portion in Harmony, PA. Then the Lord instructed Joseph to go to Fayette, New York, where he was given a small set of unabridged gold plates. These plates were taken from a separate repository in the same Hill Cumorah. In Fayette, Joseph finished what we now have as the Book of Mormon. This included the abridged and unabridged portions. Both the translation and the printing were major miracles.

The Resurrected Lord came to America.

After the Savior’s crucifixion and resurrection in the old world, He descended out of heaven to the Nephites in the “Promised Land” of America. He gave the ancient Americans the same church and the fullness of the gospel, even as He had done in Judea. This fullness of the gospel is contained in the Book of Mormon. So, the Bible and the Book of Mormon stand as two witnesses of the divinity of Christ’s mission in both the eastern and western hemispheres. The most important event in human history, the Lord’s full infinite atonement is beautifully described in the Book of Mormon.

Book of Mormon Beginnings and Teachings

The beginning of the Book of Mormon tells of a people who in 600 B.C. came from Jerusalem to America. They were the descendants of the tribe of Joseph. Jacob (Israel) had given each of his twelve sons a blessing. In Joseph’s blessing, the Lord prophesied that the seed of Joseph would be given the Americas. “Joseph is a fruitful bough… whose branches run over the wall… unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills:” (Genesis 49:22-26)

The teachings of the Book of Mormon and the Bible are consistent and complementary with each other. Among many other truths, they state that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are First, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Second, repentance, Third Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; Fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1800 Adamic phrases

The Book of Mormon language led me by the Spirit to 1,800 phrases. These distributed phrases tie back to the language of Adam and Eve. The Prophet Nephi and Joseph in Egypt both prophesied that in the last days the Bible would come into disbelief. And, the Lord’s fingerprint is in these 1,800 phrases–giving validity to all of God’s word. That these phrases occur as they do could only be by Divine design. They are distributed both over time and space. They go from Adam to modern time. And they occur independently in both the eastern (in the Bible) and western hemispheres of the earth. The Jaredites didn’t have their language confounded and spoke the Adamic language. The Adamic phraseology is by far most prevalent in their record–the Book of Ether.

The cannon of scriptures added by the Prophet Joseph Smith to the Bible are profound. More than any other prophet, they cover more than four thousand years of the Earth’s history. And amazingly, their inspired histories cover both hemispheres of the Earth.

The Lord has brought forth these modern scriptures to not only validate the Bible, but to help us prepare for His glorious Second Coming. How blessed we are to have them.

The Lord’s Church and His Resurrection

In 1830 Joseph was guided to organize the Church of Jesus Christ as it was anciently constituted. It was to be a church with Twelve Apostles and Prophets and with the same organization and teachings. The number of coverts to Christ’s ancient Church exploded following His glorious resurrection. He organized the same church when He came to America after his resurrection, and everyone joined. Because his disciples in America faithfully obeyed his teachings, they were able to create the ideal ZION society. They had two hundred years of peace. As Mormon abridged their history, he shared that, “…surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.” (4 Nephi 1:16)

As explained in the Book of Mormon, many righteous persons were resurrected following the Savior’s glorious resurrection. His infinite atonement overcame death and hell. So, all the righteous from Adam and Eve down to His resurrection were also resurrected. This world-wide incredible event is little known (Matt. 27:52) and is clearly revealed in the pages of the Book of Mormon.

His resurrection is capstone to His infinite atonement and makes possible the resurrection of every human being. Because He is perfectly merciful and perfectly just, He also opened the prison doors in the spirit world. His three-day visit there gloriously included organizing missionary work there as well. We see that Heavenly Father’s perfect plan gives an opportunity for everyone to hear the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe the ancient Church went into apostasy. The Apostles were martyred, and the divine priesthood was lost. Apostate pagan teachings crept in. The Lord told Joseph Smith in his First Vision that, “the creeds were an abomination” in His sight. This is why there needed to be a restoration of His priesthood powers, of His Church, and of the true nature of the Godhead.

After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized in 1830, the membership has also exploded. The true nature of God was restored; the fullness of the gospel was restored; the Church, as it was anciently, was restored; and priesthood powers were restored.

We Believe

We believe that all mankind are the literal spirit offspring of a loving Heavenly Father. (Ps 82:6; Acts 17:28-29) And we lived with Him in a pre-mortal existence even before this earth was created. Father laid out a plan of eternal progression and eternal happiness for each of us. His plan shared that we would come to earth and gain a physical body to house our spirit body. Here in mortality, we would gain earthly experience. And the Lord said to Abraham, “And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;” (Abraham 3:25). Living the Law of Love is the highest and most joyful commandment. In John 14 we learn that celestial obedience is equivalent to celestial love. (John 14:15, 21). Valiant faith in Jesus Christ opens the door to receive further blessings because of our infinitely loving Lord’s promises.

A veil was placed over our memory regarding our pre-mortal epoch so that faith could be operative here in mortality. As we heard the plan, we shouted for joy (Job 38:7) as we anticipated this growth opportunity. We fully knew that the trials, the pains, and the sufferings would be short compared to eternity. We saw that life’s challenges would give us experience. If we endured our trials well, we would be exalted on high. We saw that love, peace, and a fullness of joy were achievable goals. God’s love is the prime mover for His perfect plan of happiness. And it is our greatest opportunity here to learn to love as He loves. Christ-like love fulfills the whole law. (Matt. 22:36-40).

We further believe that those who die without hearing the fullness of the gospel in this life will have a chance to hear it in the spirit world (which is the place all of us go upon death). We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. The final judgment and resurrection will not come until everyone has had an opportunity to hear the fullness of the gospel.

Family is the Most Important Unit in Time and in Eternity

The importance of family was part of this great restoration of light and truth. The Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith, the understanding of priesthood powers and the purpose of temples. With that came the focus on the importance of family. In contrast to the typical civil ceremony “until death do you part,” marriages are performed in the temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by priesthood power for time and eternity. We believe that family love transcends the grave, and a fullness of joy is the blessing of eternal life with loved ones and with Elohim.

The Word of Wisdom

In 1833 the Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith a remarkable health code. It is known as the Word of Wisdom. The Lord promised both physical and spiritual blessings for those who would follow it. It has affected my life greatly: “And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;” (D&C 89:18-21). I am the recipient of countless outpourings of the Spirit as a result of the Lord’s marvelous promise. And I have witnessed the same in the lives of countless associates.

Free Choice

Individual agency is fundamental to God’s plan to bless His children. The Lord respects our desires. We are accountable for our own sins and not for Adam’s transgression. Because of the atonement of Christ, we are freed from the bands of death, and all mankind will be resurrected. His atonement also provided that through faith in Him, we can overcome spiritual death. According to our faith and obedience, we will be rewarded one of three degrees of glory. These three are likened unto the sun (Celestial), the moon (Terrestrial), and the stars (Telestial). As one star differs from another star in glory, so also is the resurrection of the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:40-42; Doctrine and Covenants sections 76 and 88) Each person receives all the blessings he or she can stand to receive, because of God’s perfect mercy and justice.

Celestial glory with Heavenly Father and with our loved ones is the chosen goal for many. This we are assured as we live the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As mentioned before, this gospel includes faith in Jesus Christ, repentance from all our sins, participation in sacred gospel ordinances. Those who are faithful in Christ may enjoy temple ordinances, where we learn how to enter His presence. We then need to endure to the end. As the Apostle Paul shares, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17);” This is the path of joy as we live the Law of Love.

Choosing to follow Christ makes all the difference, as we are perfected by Him (Moroni 10:31-32). We believe in sharing the love, joy and peace the gospel brings. A large percentage of members – especially our young men and young women – voluntarily serve missions. They serve throughout the world – many of them at their own expense.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience serving a mission in West Africa (Cote d’Ivoire (1997-1999)). Learning French at age 61 was a challenge.  The prophetic nature of Tolstoi’s comments is seen in the graph below. The graph shows the growth of the Church from the time it was organized in 1830 up to the year 2,000. Around the year 2,000, worldly influences on the members of the Church has had significant impact on the growth. I’ll discuss that below.

In this graph, I plot four parameters. Notice, that the number of members correlates with the number of Book of Mormon languages. When the hearts of a language group are ready to receive the truth, then the Book of Mormon language is provided. 200 million copies of the Book of Mormon have been printed in 115 languages.

Decline in the Growth of the Church Membership

Satan, knowing the Lord’s Second Coming is close at hand, and knowing this is the Lord’s Church, has infiltrated the Lord’s Church. Fellow Christians are being persecuted by Satan and his minions as well. Young people are leaving Christianity because of the satanically driven woke movement. Satan’s influence on the members of the Church has caused the converts per thousand members to decline. That number went from 47.5 in 1981 down to 7.6 with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Now, we are seeing that number significantly turn around—going from 7.6 to 10 in 2021 and to 12.5 in 2022. The Lord is getting ready to bring forth the ideal society—the pure in heart–a ZION society, as described in the Book of Mormon.

The Lord is now gathering His children into the fold from all over the earth. Indeed, we are seeing the signs of the times, and it is exciting to be part of sharing this Message of Gladness. While Satan is spiraling the world down, the Lord’s work is spiraling up and there are glorious signs of the second coming.

Summary

In summary, we see that the gospel plan as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith is designed to bring great blessings to body, mind and spirit. And fullness of the gospel offers a fullness of joy in the world to come. The truths of the restoration are unique, in that it is the only plan that offers an equal opportunity for every human being to have eternal life. We see that the gospel message is indeed a message of gladness. It is not just for America but for the whole world. In its design, it has the potential to provide the ultimate righteous society. And it offers the greatest of all the gifts of God–the gift of Eternal Life. (Doctrine and Covenants 14:7)

We believe that this righteous society and the divine gifts are obtainable as we look to Christ. We build our foundation on the rock of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. We have the sure promise that as we do so, we shall not fall. (Helaman 5:12) As we come unto Him, He can and will bring us totally out of “Babylon,” wherein, we become “new creatures” in Christ (Mosiah 27:25-26). We seek to follow His perfect pattern to do the will of the Father in each of our personal missions. We desire to have you share in the fullness of joy promised by our infinitely loving Lord. And share this article with others as you feel to do so.

PS At the 1990 language debate at CU, I met the Rabbi, the Catholic Priest, and had a good conversation with them after. There were two Protestant ministers, also an atheist, who shared their beliefs. They gave each of us seven minutes to share our beliefs. They then opened it up to the students for questions, and that went on for three hours. It was a most interesting evening. After, the Catholic priest said to me, “May I ask you a question?” I said, “Certainly,” He said, “I understand that you believe that you can become a god?” I responded with a question, “Did the Savior say, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matt. 5:48) He said, “I have never thought of that scripture in that way.

Signs of the Second Coming

It is exciting to see signs of the Second Coming of our Lord. One of those signs will be mapped out this year over North America. North America is the “promised land” spoken of in the Book of Mormon. The Lord has declared that it is a “choice land” above all others.

Over a seven-year period (21 August 2017—8 April 2024) three major solar eclipses will map out an “A” over North America. This “A” denotes the Lord as the Great Alpha and Omega (A & Ω)—knowing the end from the beginning. The prophecies of the Lord always give us what is needed to help us best prepare for our future and for eternal life. The Lord’s prophecies and signs call on us to repent so that we may partake of the full blessings of His infinite atonement. Now, it is exciting that this year we will see the Lord’s signature, “A.” He is the Great Alpha and Omega and is telling the world of His glorious Second Coming.

The Great Alpha and Omega in the Eclipses

Alpha and omega are the first and last letters in the Greek alphabet. In the scriptures, they refer to the Lord. There are 18 occurrences of A & Ω: D&C 19:1; 35:1; 38:1; 45:7; 54:1; 61:1; 63:60; 68:35; 75:1; 81:7; 84:120; 112:34; 132:66; 3 Ne. 9:18; Rev. 1:8, 11; 21:6; and 22:13. These occurrences map out His majesty. And the infinite love of the Lord can be seen in all directions. Manifest for those who have eyes to see, and ears to hear. (Moses 6:63) Now we see this sign denoting the beginning of the end, as we anticipate His glorious Second Coming.

We know in whom we can trust, and it is not the arm of flesh. Our infinite loving Lord gives us these signs in the heavens that Satan cannot duplicate. He is the great Alpha and Omega—seeing the beginning to the end. We must pay attention to His signs in the heavens. In so doing, we prepare our hearts for the great and dreadful day of the Lord. A great day for the righteous; and a dreadful day for the wicked.

Seven Cities by the Name of Salem

The first eclipse on 21 August 2017 passed over seven cities in North America by the name of Salem. Which means “peace” in Hebrew. Seven is a sacred number in the Lord’s arithmetic. So, the Lord is saying that if the people of North America will repent, we can have peace. Have we listened to the Lord? I am afraid not, and there will be consequences. He is perfectly just, and perfectly merciful.

America’s Greatest Need is to Repent

The best thing we can do is repent and “Listen to the voice of Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, the Great I AM, whose arm of mercy hath atoned for your sins. Who will gather his people even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, even as many as will hearken to my voice and humble themselves before me, and call upon me in mighty prayer.” (D&C 29:1-2) He will help each of us in our paths and in dealing with life’s challenges if we will “Listen to the voice of the Lord your God, even Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, whose course is one eternal round, the same today as yesterday, and forever.” (D&C 35:1) His voice is ever available for us to hear if we will repent. His angels are perfectly organized in the Kingdom of Heaven to speak His words to us. (2 Nephi 32:3-5) They are continually there for us if we will but ask, seek, and knock. (Matt. 7:7-8)

“For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.” (1 Nephi 10:19) As we trust in Him, He promises, we need not fear. (1 Nephi 22:22) In the same chapter it warns, those who will not hear Christ will be “cut off.” (1 Nephi 22:20-21)

August 14th, 2023, Eclipse

This eclipse makes the left side of the “A,” It connects with the 21 August 2017 eclipse path in Oregon and exits the United States at Corpus Christy, Texas. Corpus Christy, of course, means the body of Christ. How apropos is that?

April 8th, 2024, Solar Eclipse

Seven years after the 2017 eclipse we will see the April 8th, 2024, eclipse. This eclipse is fascinating as it both completes the Alpha, “A”, and crosses over Missouri. Missouri is sacred to the Lord for this is where the New Jerusalem will be built. So, this is also a sign that the ideal ZION society is coming in preparation for the Lord’s Second Coming. This will be when the prophecy comes to fruition as the Bride meets the Bridegroom, (D&C 133:7-14). The Lord will bring again Zion. (Isa. 52:8; 3 Nephi 16:18)

Terri Pontius pointed out to me that this eclipse passes over eight cities by the name of Ninevah. Seven of them are in the United States, and one in Nova Scotia. The Prophet Jona called Ninevah to repentance and had great success. Is the Lord telling us that will happen again? Interestingly, Nova Scotia is inhabited by the Mi’kmaq Indians, whose DNA is more than 50% tying back to Israel. Their language has a lot of Hebrew like characters–EL for God, for example. There is good evidence that the Mi’kmaq were part of Hagoth’s entourage. This is described in part in Alma 63, as well as in this link.

This crossing is also the area where beginning in 1811 there followed a record number (2,000) earthquakes. The biggest and greatest earthquake sequence in recorded history in North America. The town of New Madrid, MO, was destroyed. Some of the native American Indians saw it as a sign of their mistreatment by the European invaders.

There is a museum in New Madrid, MO, documenting this incredible event. These earthquakes made the Mississippi River run upstream and rang bells in Boston. There were three days of darkness, and stories recorded in that museum remind one of the destructions recorded in the Book of Mormon. At the time of Christ’s crucifixion, there were three hours of destruction of several of the major cities in North America, and there were three days of darkness.

There are prophecies that the Missouri earthquakes will happen again in a major way as part of the cleansing and preparing for the New Jerusalem. With these eclipses, the Lord is giving us a repentance warning. The prophecies indicate that the Mississippi and Ohio rivers will open up the country into a major waterway connecting the Great Lakes.
On page 118 of John Pontious’ book, Visions of Glory, we read that a new canyon will be created: “This canyon essentially created an eastern and the western United States, which figured into some international intrigue later on.”

September 23nd, 2017, Sign in Heavens

Saturday, 23 September 2017, I took screenshots with an app I have on my phone. This app allowed me look at the constellations in the daytime in any direction. These shots in our living room give you orientation in conjunction with Revelations Chapter 12 being played out before us in the heavens. Planetary alignments are common. But to have the planets lined up as they were WITH THE MOON AND THE SUN is unique. Such an event has never occurred before in astronomical history. The Lord is telling us that He is going to give birth to a ZION society. This is the ideal, pure in heart, society spoken of in the prophecies in preparation for His Coming.

In this Divine Sign in the Heavens, we have all five planets (Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, and Venus) lined up with the sun and the moon. They map out Revelations 12 for those who have eyes to see and hearts to feel. He is getting ready to bring forth the ideal ZION society, and the exciting thing is that we can be part of it. North America–Choice Land Above All Others

The Lord led the Jaredites to this land of promise (North America) just after the tower of Babel. Then the Lord led the Lehites here in 592 B.C. And, the Mulekites were led here shortly thereafter. Moroni shares the Lord’s promises to the Jaredites and to all who poses this “Land of Promise”:

…that they should come forth even unto the land of promise, which was choice above all other lands, which the Lord God had preserved for a righteous people. And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity. For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off. And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God—that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done. Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written. (Ether 2:7-12)

After 1,700 years and being the greatest nation ever, the Jaredites were destroyed in a huge civil war ending about 600 B.C. The Mulekites joined with the people of Lehi and were also destroyed in a huge civil war in 385 A.D. We see the “everlasting decree” of God so evident in these histories. Would that all would heed this “everlasting decree” of God. Americans must wake up, repent, and come to the God of this land, who is Jesus Christ or be “cut off.” (JS-H 40)

On the other hand, the Lord has great promises for the righteous. The righteous will be part of the glorious ZION society, which the Lord will bring forth. Hearken to His voice and receive the enormous blessings in store for the righteous. (D&C 29:1-2)

The Great Reset 2030

Satan knows the Lord is coming. His great counterattack on Christianity is occurring as we speak. The global elite (the New World Order (NWO) folks) are moving forward with their nefarious plans. Tucker Carson recently interviewed Alex Jones regarding the details of their plan. Alex has written a new book as a counterattack to Satan, “The Great Awakening.” The NWO efforts are part of what the Lord calls “the Great and abominable church of the devil” in scripture. The Lord prophesies of this time:

And the blood of that great and abominable church, which is the whore of all the earth, shall turn upon their own heads; for they shall war among themselves, and the sword of their own hands shall fall upon their own heads, and they shall be drunken with their own blood. And every nation which shall war against thee, O house of Israel, shall be turned one against another, and they shall fall into the pit which they digged to ensnare the people of the Lord. And all that fight against Zion shall be destroyed, and that great whore, who hath perverted the right ways of the Lord, yea, that great and abominable church, shall tumble to the dust and great shall be the fall of it. For behold, saith the prophet, the time cometh speedily that Satan shall have no more power over the hearts of the children of men; for the day soon cometh that all the proud and they who do wickedly shall be as stubble; and the day cometh that they must be burned. For the time soon cometh that the fulness of the wrath of God shall be poured out upon all the children of men; for he will not suffer that the wicked shall destroy the righteous. Wherefore, he will preserve the righteous by his power, even if it so be that the fulness of his wrath must come, and the righteous be preserved, even unto the destruction of their enemies by fire. Wherefore, the righteous need not fear; for thus saith the prophet, they shall be saved, even if it so be as by fire. (1 Nephi 22:13-17)

The global elite are also warmongers, as I shared in my blog article, The Military-Industrial Complex Danger. This is another way for them to depopulate the planet in their nefarious schemes.

All will be in the Lord’s Time

All of this will unfold in the Lord’s time, and not ours. And, in a way that is best for all of Heavenly Father’s children, because of His infinite love for each of us. The bottom line is – “Trust Him”. Looking back on the End-Times, we will know that all the challenges it will bring will be worth it. And the Lord has promised that the righteous will be rewarded a hundred fold.

The Military-Industrial Complex Danger

President Eisenhower, in his closing remarks as President, warned that the buildup of the military-industrial complex could be disastrous. Especially, if it got into the wrong hands.

The Military-industrial complex is a network of individuals and institutions involved in producing weapons and military technologies. It is not part of the government. These private organizations sell their weapons and technologies to the government at taxpayers’ expense.

Eisenhower’s warning is more significant than he thought. Going back in war history, the global elite made millions of dollars by funding both sides of WWI and WW2. That source of income for them has increased to billions of dollars for past wars we have been involved with, including the Ukraine War. The current sophistication of the Military-industrial complex has added enormously to their coffers. The high-tech military price tags are now mind-boggling.

I just watched the fascinating video of a Tucker Carlson interview with Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. The link to the two-hour interview is at the bottom of this post if you are interested. This interview has raised a firestorm of comments. I wrote a blog article about the complicated war in Ukraine. In this blog article, I give some of the reasons for the war from my perspective. In the interview, Putin added to my list of interesting historical viewpoints. Putin missed and I missed the enormous military funding by the West and by Ukraine as they try to defeat Russia. The West has this insane goal that they can defeat Russia through this war. The people in the West are making Putin seem to be the most evil man on the planet.

The media, who are controlled by the global elite, are painting a distorted picture of Putin to justify their insane agenda. It is about money in the pockets of the global elite rather than about doing the right thing. It is also about their goal of global control. Several other complicated issues are contributing to the Ukraine that I point out in my blog article.

Did Biden’s Foreign Policy Start the War in Ukraine?

I listened to Glenn Beck’s interview with Tucker Carlson just after he got back to the States. Most of the interview was about Tucker’s interview with Putin.

Beginning at minute 41 of Glenn’s interview with Tucker, Tucker shares an extremely important perspective about what caused the Ukraine war. Tucker points out the craziness of Biden’s foreign policy by pushing Ukraine to join NATO, which would allow NATO to put nuclear weapons on the border of Ukraine against Russia. So, as Tucker points out, it is the craziness of Biden’s foreign policy that caused the war. No way was Putin going to let nuclear weapons against Russia be placed on the border of Ukraine against Russia.

It is like the New World Order folks (the global elite) orchestrating the 9/11 disaster, then blaming the terrorists. 911 What Really Happend (itsabouttimebook.com) As Tacker points out, the Biden foreign policy prompted the Ukraine war, then blamed Putin.

Russia Today

The people in Russia love Putin and feel he is a great leader. I have been to the USSR, now Russia, four times over four decades, and the changes are enormous. And, for the most part, the changes are very good. From the time the wall came down until now the percentage of Christians has gone from 30% to well over 70%. Now, with the wokeism epidemic in America, there are probably more Christians in Russia than in the United States. Russia is not affected by this wokeism epidemic.

In 2022, Putin signed expanded anti-LGBTQ laws in Russia. In a news release on Oct 27, 2023, Putin formed a closer alliance with the Orthodox Church. The country has embraced what officials call “traditional values,” and Russia has sought to put more restrictions on abortions.

My Trips to Russia

Before the wall came down in 1989, I made my second trip to Russia in August of that year at the invitation of Dr. Nickolay Koshelyaevsky. Nick was the official timekeeper for the USSR at that time.

My wife and I first meet Nick in Paris in the Spring of that year at the BIPM. We were at a meeting of the Consultative Committee for the Definition of the Second (CCDS). I was representing the US, and we were staying at the same hotel as Nick. We gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon, and an inspiring long-story short. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 1996, I was in charge of the tutorials for the International Frequency Control Symposium in Hawaii, and Nick was also there. We were privileged to take him through the Hawaiian Temple. He was the first Russian to go to that temple. So, a special article was published about his conversion story in our church’s ENSIGN magazine the following January.

In 2014, Nick invited me to give a lecture at an international Symposium on Time and Space in Suzdal, Russia. On my flight to Moscow, I was impressed with the number of young, energetic, enthusiastic Russians—speaking good English–who were on their way back after visiting America. It would have never happened before the wall came down.
The first Sunday we were there, Nick took us to the Moscow Ward—the congregation for our church. They had us both give talks and share our testimonies. I learned there that all twelve tribes of the House of Israel were mentioned in their patriarchal blessings.

I was chauffeured to Suzdal. It is a unique city in Russia; it was the only one where the Christian cathedrals were not destroyed during the revolution. And, they are beautiful. There was a totally different feeling there than when I was there the two previous times in the USSR before the wall came down.

A year later in 2015, I was invited to give a paper and chair a panel on the Modified Allan variance (MVAR). This was at an International Navigation Conference in St. Petersburg. MVAR has become in international approved metric in the navigation community.

The variety of healthful foods at the hotel where I stayed was better than anything I had ever seen in America. I took two cases of my book, It’s About Time, to Suzdal and to St. Petersburg. The book harmonizes science and religion, and I sold them all. They were very well received.

That was when I learned that Putin had been baptized Christian and wore a cross. As I discuss in my blog article the answer to the question, “Is Putin a good guy or a bad guy?” The answer is yes! So are we all until we are “born again” with changed hearts by Christ. Then we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually. (Mosiah 5:2; 2 Nephi 4:31; Alma 19;33) Their military nuclear armament and missile capability are off the charts. Putin does not want a nuclear war; he knows the consequences. He believes in reasoning together.

Conference in St. Petersburg

I had some very unique experiences with the St. Petersburg conference. My wife and I had been there once before giving a relativity paper that Professor Neil Ashby and I had written. We contracted with Neil to do the relativity equations for GPS. This was before the wall came down, and the security measures were enormously different. Then, they said they had two million troops at their borders in fear that the USA would attack. Since then, our church has established three wards (separate congregations) there. I walked the streets without fear and took tours of this incredibly beautiful city.

I had arrived early to deal with the jetlag and so I could go to church there on Sunday. I had the following inspiring experience finding something better than GPS to navigate.

Since I am my own boss, I felt to add some religion to the paper they asked me to write. When I submitted it, they kindly asked me to withdraw the religious material. It was a fun addition to the paper. The Lord had given me an equation showing how we can be ONE with God. I knew the review committee would read it, and I have the full paper on my website, Allan’s Time. www.allansTIME.com/publications.

I also wrote a blog article based on this equation that the Lord gave me. It has a large number of visits from across the globe.

Military-Industrial Complex Perspective

I have come to know many brilliant scientists in Russia. As an example, their GLONASS navigation system came after GPS. It has some significant advantages over GPS. We forget who put up the first orbiting spacecraft: SPUTNIK. We were all amazed as we saw it go overhead every 90 minutes. Several years ago, I was asked to write two chapters in a book regarding their military might. They wanted my knowledge of their time and frequency capabilities.

The global elite don’t care about lives. They are pro-depopulation strategies. Funding the military-industrial complex not only fills their coffers, but it also helps get rid of people. So, they and the media they control paint as ugly a picture as they can of Putin. We see the insanity of them wanting to defeat Russia through the Ukraine war. The elite have their bungalows and underground cities in case of nuclear war.

The preparedness of the Swiss is interesting. We have been in their homes. Every new home has to have a bomb shelter, and shooting rifles accurately is their primary sport, and they all have them. Unfortunately, they are not prepared spiritually as well as they could be, but neither are we in the West.

What Can We Do?

The more we expose the global elite’s nefarious plans, the less effective they are. The best thing we can do is as Christ did. He did the will of the Father perfectly. To come to Christ with the deep desire, “Thy will not mine be done.” And to be valiant in living our testimony of His enormous, most important, full infinite atonement. We each have missions given to us by Heavenly Father that would be best for us in our mortal journey. In Father’s infinite love for each of us, His angels are ever there for us to speak the words of Christ, as we ask, seek, and knock. (2 Nephi 32:3-5; Matt. 7:7-8; D&C 29:1-2)

I just watched an interesting interview of Tucker Carlson by Glenn Beck just after he got back to the states: Tucker Carlson Takes On Critics of His Interview with Putin | Ep 210 | BlazeTV.

Our son, Nathan, put me onto a podcast with a Russian, Constatine, who is very knowledgeable, and had some good criticisms of the Tucker Calson interview with Putin.
However, almost all these podcasts leave out the fundamental equation from God: If we keep the commandments, we are blessed. If we don’t, He will not bless us in wickedness.

Did you know Benjamin Winchester changed the course of history for the Church? Did you know there were two sets of gold plates for the Book of Mormon? Did you know that Zarahemla is across the Mississippi River from Nauvoo, Ill.? Did you know the Sidon River in the Book of Mormon is the Mississippi? Did you know Zarahemla and Sidon are Phoenician words? Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern Stylometry reveal the truth, as Jonathan and Rod point out.

Benjamin Winchester

Benjamin Winchester wrote three articles appearing In the Times and Seasons indicating the Book of Mormon took place in Mesoamerica. These articles were attributed erroneously to Joseph Smith. The Prophet Joseph tried to change Benjamin’s mind and couldn’t. Joseph prophesied of Benjamin’s apostasy, and that he would do great harm to the Church. Joseph said Winchester was “rotten at heart.”

Jonathan’s book, The Lost City of Zarahemla, From Iowa to Guatemala—and Back Again, details how Winchester deceived the Church. I share Jonathan’s perspective here: “In 1842, a zealous, committed Mormon [Benjamin Winchester] invented a way to gain more converts. All he had to do was link the Book of Mormon to popular books, including a national bestseller, about Mesoamerica. This proof would be irresistible to the public. Except the prophet disagreed with the tactic. Convinced he was right, he battled Joseph Smith. Formally suspended and silenced, he fought back. He arranged for the publication in the Times and Seasons of articles that specifically linked the Book of Mormon to Mesoamerica. The consequences? Joseph Smith resigned from the paper. The champions of the Mesoamerican theory apostatized from the Church. And the Mesoamerican theory would undermine faith in Joseph Smith’s role as prophet, seer and revelator for the next 174 years. This man’s zeal and subterfuge have remained a secret despite the devoted efforts of historians, educators, and church leaders to uncover the truth. Until now.”

The Lord knows the end from the beginning and can turn bad into good. So, I find it fascinating that the Lord gave Joseph a revelation in March 1841 – “Let them build up a city unto my name upon the land opposite the city of Nauvoo, and let the name of Zarahemla be named upon it.” (D&C 125:3) These controversial articles in the Times and Seasons came later, and they changed the course of history significantly for the Lord’s Church. Here, the Lord has given a revelation to those paying attention to His word to avoid Winchester’s deceit.

In the infinite wisdom of the Lord, this revelation didn’t say Zarahemla was there for His all-knowing wise purposes. The magnificent ruins in Central and South America caught the eye of many Church leaders and academics in the Church. And most believed the articles in the Times and Seasons, promoting the Mesoamerica model, were attributed to the Prophet Joseph. That model came to be believed by most members of the Church. I believed it, as did Jonathan Neville!

Now, AI and modern stylometry techniques show those articles were written by Benjamin Winchester, and the Church members have been massively deceived. Now, we can prove that North America is where the Book of Mormon took place. The Book of Mormon geography is here in this “Land of Promise”—North America.

Edna Allan’s Major Insight

My wife, Edna, knowing the Lord can turn bad into good, had a major insight. She believes the Lord knowing this deceit turned bad into good. This deceit caused the Church to take the gospel to the people in Central and South America much more than otherwise. Because the Church leaders and members believed the Book of Mormon took place in Central and South America, they focused missionary work in that direction. The blessings to those good people have been enormous. Indeed, the course of history for the Church has changed for the good in spite of the deceit.

Exposing The Deceit

Now, the Lord is exposing that deceit, as the North American Indians (Lamanites) are blossoming as a rose in fulfillment of prophecy. Rod and Jonathan, in their podcasts, document this deceit in detail. They share the history of how this deceit came about.

Also, I am privileged to be part of Book of Mormon Heartland showing where the Book of Mormon really took place. This geography model exposes this deceit. At the same time, in the above links, I prove the Mesoamerica model false.

Because the Lord turned this deceit into good, there are now 8 million members of the Church in Central and South America combined. Interestingly, there are only 7 million in the United States and Canada combined. The combined membership in Central and South America would be much fewer if this deceit had not occurred. Now, 15 million of the 17 million members of the Church are in the Americas.

Membership growth curves have changed dramatically over time. Now the membership in Africa is exploding, while the growth is flat in the Americas and in most of the rest of the world. The main cause of that flattening is Satan’s Wokeism and all the secularism that has invaded our education systems. The proven false theories of Darwinian evolution and the Big Bang are pervasive.

If you go to the statistics on the Church’s website, you will notice that there is no Central America. All the Central America countries are lumped in with North America. I had to add up the membership from the individual countries to get a Central America statistic. I did this from the Church’s Wikipedia page.

Unfortunately, the 2024 “Come Follow Me” manual for the Church still shows pictures from Mesoamerica. Even though the Mesoamerica model for Book of Mormon geography has been proven false.

However, we have seen progress. I taught the “Institute of Religion” class for the Moroni Stake in our Church for eleven years. The original Book of Mormon manual for that course of study had many pictures depicting Mesoamerica geography for the Book of Mormon. They made a new manual and took out all of those pictures. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32)

Two Sets of Gold Plates

Most don’t know that there were two sets of gold plates used in translating the Book of Mormon. Jonathan Neville has written an excellent book about this important topic: Whatever Happened to the Golden Plates? He also helped me with a blog article sharing this fascinating dimension for these sacred records coming forth.

Joseph shared that Moroni wrote the Title Page for the Book of Mormon. It was underneath the plates Joseph translated that were given to Joseph from the stone box in the Hill Cumorah. Two-thirds of them were sealed. These are the plates from which Joseph translated the Book of Lehi. The 116 pages of that translation were lost by Martin Harris’s wife, with Satanic designs. He was then instructed by the Lord to translate the Book of Mosiah through and including the Book of Moroni.

Notice the two paragraphs of the Title Page tell us that it is an abridgment of the record of the Nephites and an abridgment of the record of the Jaredites, respectively. These abridgments were made by Mormon and Moroni, respectively. The Title Page mentions nothing of the unabridged portion coming later from the small plates. It is estimated that the large plates taken from the stone box weighed about 60 lbs.

After finishing that translation from the large plates, Joseph was then instructed to give the large plates to a messenger. That messenger took them and put them into the repository in the Hill Cumorah. This is a room of records that was in the Hill Cumorah different from the stone box. As Jonathan points out from his research, that messenger was Nephi, one of the three Nephites. (3 Nephi 28) Nephi then took the small plates from the repository to Joseph Smith in Fayette, NY. Joseph had been instructed to go to Fayette to the Peter and Mary Whitmer home. The Whitmer family were kind supporters of the completion of this sacred work. Joseph then finished the translation from 1 Nephi through and including at least part of the Words of Mormon in the Book of Mormon.

This is a beautiful example of the FIRST shall be LAST, and the LAST shall be FIRST (D&C 29:30). “… the first shall be last, and that the last shall be first in all things whatsoever I have created by the word of my power, which is the power of my Spirit.” The last of the Book of Mormon was translated first, and the first part was translated last. “Brother Nephi” showed these small plates to Mary Whitmer, and she said that was how he introduced himself.

After the translation was finished in Fayette, the Three Witnesses were privileged to be shown the large plates by Moroni. They did not handle them but heard the Lord’s voice witnessing of their truth. All three of these witnesses later became disaffected with the Church, but never denied their testimonies. In a court of law, this would be sufficient evidence for the validation of this sacred record.

Again, as Jonathan points out, Joseph then took these plates back to the repository in the Hill Cumorah. These are the plates that Joseph showed to the eight witnesses near Palmyra. These witnesses were privileged to heft and turn the leaves of the small plates. Joseph’s father was one of those witnesses and said the plates weighed about 30 pounds.
No part of these plates was sealed.

John Whitmer, one of the scribes for the translation of the small plates, copied off some of the characters. This is the famous “CARACTERS” document. AI and Stylometry have identified John as the scribe. These characters are not “reformed Egyptian”, but Demotic Egyptian. That was the language used at the time Lehi left Jerusalem. Bryan Nettles verifies this in a blog article. You can see a picture of the “CARACTERS” document in this blog article.

Some confuse the “CARACTERS” document with the Anthon transcript. It is not. Joseph copied and translated some characters from the large plates, while in Harmony, PA. Martin Harris took these to experts to validate them. This is where we have a fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy regarding the Book of Mormon: (See Isaiah 29:11-24 and JS-H 63-65)

Isa. 29:11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

The Found City of Zarahemla

As mentioned, Jonathan Neville wrote the wonderful book, The Lost City of Zarahemla. He later told me, he should have named it, “The Found City of Zarahemla.” I find it fascinating that the Lord gave the revelation to Joseph Smith to name the city across from Nauvoo, Ill, Zarahemla. In His infinite wisdom, the Lord not only did it just before the Mesoamerica, Times and Seasons, deceit problem. The Lord also did not say it was the same site as the city and land so important in Book of Mormon history.

The Lord knew we would find that out later. Which we have after the massive Church’s effort to take the fullness of the gospel to the people in Central and South America. And the Church missionaries have had great success in doing so.

Now we know it is the day when the Lamanites (North American Natives) are blossoming as a rose in preparation for the Lord’s coming. We are learning more and more about the Native Americans. We now know not only where the City and the Land of Zarahemla are. Recent discoveries have shown an amazing, Spotted Bee Balm, an herbal remedy found in that area. It reminds one of the following scripture:

And some who died with fevers, which at some seasons of the year were very frequent in the land—but not so much so with fevers, because of the excellent qualities of the many plants and roots which God had prepared to remove the cause of diseases, to which men were subject by the nature of the climate— (Alma 46:40)

Non-member Assistance

It seems that the leadership of our church has taken a neutral stand regarding Book of Mormon geography. Since many of the religion professors at BYU believe in the Mesoamerica model, I am guessing their influence has something to do with why we see Mesoamerica images in the Church’s 2024 “Come Follow Me” program.

Yet, the Lord has set an everlasting decree that whosoever possesses this land shall serve the God of this land, who is Jesus Christ. If they do not, they shall be “Swept off.” The people of North America cannot say, if they are destroyed, they didn’t know. (Ether 2:7-12) The Book of Mormon is very clear on the critical need for the people of this “Promised Land” to repent.

I find it fascinating how the Lord has orchestrated with non-members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Phillip Beale has shown the path of how the Lehites got to North America. Russell Burrows has found some 4,000 ancient artifacts in the southern Illinois, Indiana area. Many North American Natives are reaching out to assist in sharing that the Book of Mormon is of their ancestry. The DNA of many of the native North Americans have strong Israelite markers. We read in the Title page the Lord’s purpose for the Book of Mormon:

It “is to show unto the remnant of the house of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever— And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations.” Now the Book of Mormon is in 115 languages, and more are coming.

The printing of the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon in the Divine ratio was a major miracle. I was praying about this miracle. And, the Lord revealed to my mind and heart that these 5,000 copies were printed in the Divine ratio: 7 ½ inches / 4 5/8 inches = 1.62. In honor of this miracle, I had my new book, Time & Eternity, printed in the Divine ratio as well.

Proof of the Book of Mormon location is supported by significant evidence in the history of the Great Lakes. You might say, the Great Lakes were Greater than they are now. And the greater “Great Lakes” and their contributories help reveal the Native American peoples in the Book of Mormon.

Significant evidence exists that the Great Lakes were greater than they are now. We will see why Mormon would say that they, “were nearly surrounded by water.” (Alma 22:32) I share a map below from a 1915 Monograph #53 by Frank B. Taylor and Frank Leverett. They were with the US Geological Survey. The map shows that Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, and Lake Heron were all combined: this is the “West Sea” in the Book of Mormon. It was enormous; it was more than 500 km across based on the areas of these three lakes as they are today. Lake Algonquin–the “west sea”–was much bigger than that at the time of the Jaredites, Lehites, and the Mulekites.

Lake Algonquin

The Native Americans called it Lake Algonquin. Lake Erie and Lake Algonquin are connected by the St. Clair and Detroit rivers (8 feet of drop in 62 miles, 1.3 ft/mi). Historically then, it seems the “West Sea” was connected to the St. Lawrence River by the Ottawa River. It was called the Algonquin River by the Natives connecting the “West Sea” to the St. Lawrence Sea Way. It is also named after the Algonquin word ‘to trade”—dropping less than 1 foot per mile on its way to the St. Lawrence River and to the Atlantic Ocean. That shipping route avoided Niagra Falls. Lake Erie is named after the Erie Indians, and Lake Ontario is named Lake Iroquois by the Native Americans. One meaning of Iroquois is “Original People,” and their population has strong Israel DNA ties. The “West Sea” was also connected to the Sidon (Mississippi River) and to the Illinois River—dropping only ½ foot per mile.

Algonquin People

The Algonquin population also have strong Israeli DNA ties. From their oral traditions, the Algonquin people had their first landing on the St. Lawrence River near Montreal. Their third landing was near Detroit, which would be close to the Land Bountiful in the Book of Mormon and to Lake Erie. The resurrected Lord first visited the Nephites at the temple in Bountiful. (3 Nephi 11)

One of the meanings of the word Algonquin is interesting: “They are our relatives/allies.” Sounds like a ZION mentality. Back then, since the Algonquin Lake was not only connected to St. Lawrence via the Ottawa River but also to the Mississippi and the Illinois Rivers, it is no wonder the Mulekites ended up in Zarahemla across from Nauvoo. (D&C 125:3) This is the first place the Mississippi River could be crossed on foot back then, when coming up from the Gulf of Mexico.

Key Migrations Unknown to the World

As best I can I like to look at things as the Lord does in how He orchestrated these key migrations to and from America. He had them keep records so we could learn from them God’s will for them and to be preserved for us. Included in these records are critically important information for our day. Given the above information about the greater “Great Lakes,” let us look at some key migrations and some associated artifacts. I will share the migrations of the Jaredites, Mulekites, Hagoth, and the Mi’kmaq. There is a lot more that could be shared about ancient shipping across the oceans. The book, Atlantic B. C., by Philip Beale is a real eye-opener.

Jaredites

The Jaredites are associated with the Adena culture. Their burials have been found in most of the contiguous 48 states and Canada. Utahna Jessop has a fascinating documentary on this culture: Ancient Giants Erased from History. They are unique in that their language was not confounded after the Tower of Babel, at their request. The Lord told them they would be the greatest nation in world history (Ether 1:43). He promised to lead them to a land choice above any other (Ether 1:42). Clearly, this was North America, which they inhabited for about 1,600 years. They were destroyed in a massive civil war ending just west of the Hill Cumorah in western New York.

President Marion G. Romney’s “Destiny of America”

“I will give you a lesson today that the Lord has taken great pains to bring to us… In the western part of the state of New York near Palmyra is a prominent hill known as the “Hill Cumorah.” (Mormon 6:6) On July twenty-fifth of this year [1975], as I stood on the crest of that hill admiring with awe the breathtaking panorama that stretched out before me on every hand, my mind reverted to the events that occurred in that vicinity some twenty-five centuries ago—events which brought to an end the great Jaredite nation.

“As I contemplated this tragic scene from the crest of Cumorah and viewed the beautiful land of the Restoration as it appears today, I cried in my soul, ‘How could it have happened?’ …This second civilization to which I refer, the Nephites, flourished in America between 600 b.c. and a.d. 400. Their civilization came to an end for the same reason, at the same place, and in the same manner as did the Jaredites’.

“Now my beloved brethren and sisters everywhere, both members of the Church and nonmembers, I bear you my personal witness that I know that the things I have presented to you today are true—both those pertaining to past events and those about events yet to come. The issue we face is clear and well-defined. The choice is ours. The question is: Shall we of this dispensation repent and obey the laws of the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, or shall we continue to defy them until we ripen in iniquity?”

The Prophet Moroni Saw or Day More Clearly Than any Other

Moroni saw our day more clearly than any other prophet. The need for North Americans to repent or be “swept off” is critical.

The Prophet Moroni gives us a magnificent and very significant summary of the Jaredites in the Book of Ether in the Book of Mormon. Regarding North America, the Lord gives them and us an extremely important promise:

“And the Lord would not suffer that they should stop beyond the sea in the wilderness, but he would that they should come forth even unto the land of promise, which was choice above all other lands, which the Lord God had preserved for a righteous people. And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity. For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off. And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God—that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.” (Ether 2:7-11)

Mulekites

The Jaredite and Mulekite nations had their passageway to North America through the St. Lawrence seaway and the greater “Great Lakes.” The Lord told both the Jaredites and the Lehites of a Promised Land greater than any other. We see how the Lord kept His promise by providing North America—ameliorating the climate and conditions to make this a blessed land for them. This the Lord did and is doing from Adam down to the “Land of the Free” today. His great promises for them and us are incredibly important today, as we prepare for His coming.

I have heard several talks by my good friend, David Doane. I have had many personal conversations with him as well. He is a fascinating Jewish convert. His research shows that the Mulekites came up the St. Lawrence in Phoenician ships, and established themselves in Zarahemla. Zarahemla is a Phoenician word. The Lord told the Prophet Joseph Smith to name the city across from Nauvoo, Ill, Zarahemla (D&C 125:3). The Book of Mormon shares that the river there is called the Sidon, which is the Mississippi River, which is also a Phoenician word. When the Mulekites joined with the Nephites, several Phoenician words appeared in the Book of Mormon text. David Doane explains how and why they came in Phoenician ships.

Wayne May told me of a Phoenician artifact in a museum in Dear Born, MI, found on the shores of Lake Michigan near Chicago. He sent a picture of it to me.

The Vikings had several settlements in eastern Canada where they lived year-round. The petroglyph writings on the cliffs along the waterways from ships coming from northern Europe are much higher than current water levels. So, we know that current water levels are not as they were then.

Glottology

Glottology is the science of linguistics. Brian D. Stubbs states, “Written records unearthed in the Americas have often been labeled as hoaxes. But, languages show specific ties from ancient to modern times, and thousands of the related languages are beyond fabrication. Many people label artifacts as hoaxes because the material does not conform to their paradigm that Hebrew, Christian, and Egyptian relics should not be found in North America.”

John Whitmer, who helped scribe for Joseph Smith, from the small plates in Fayette, NY, copied characters from the small plates. My good friend, Brian Nettles, has been able to translate some of those. They are Demotic Egyptian, which was the language used at the time of Lehi and Nephi’s writings.

Author, David Hocking shares how the Hebrew language links to North America with the numerous Hebrew names ending in “ah.” Many of these names are also found in the Book of Mormon.

For example: Utah is a Ute Indian word meaning “In the tops of the Mountains,” and ending in “ah.” So, using the Ute Indian word in Isaiah 2:2-3, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in [Utah] the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.”

The Ten Commandments

I know of three occurrences in North America of ancient Hebrew renditions of the Ten Commandments in what is called “block Hebrew”. I have a replica of one of those we saw in a museum in Ohio with the inscription and figure of Moses in block Hebrew at the top.

Hagoth

The Book of Mormon tells us of Hagoth, who built several ships and took thousands of people “north”—probably up Lake Algonquin—the “West Sea.” (Alma 63:4-9) And then most probably east down the Ottawa River to the St. Lawrence seaway.

I believe the Mi’kmaq were part of the Hagoth entourage. The Mi’kmaq settled at the mouth and south of the St. Lawrence seaway. The Mi’kmaq have the tradition of Noah’s flood. The Jesuits found them easy converts to Christianity. Wayne May shares that the Jesuits made a prayer book for them in the Mi’kmaq language, which has several characters similar to Demotic Egyptian, and many of them with the same meanings. That prayer book is still used today by the Mi’kmaq people. Demotic Egyptian was spoken at the time Lehi left Jerusalem in 600 B.C. Over 50% of their population’s DNA ties to Israel.

Geologist, Wayne May has shown direct comparisons of Demotic Egyptian with the Mi’kmaq language and some of the characters have the same meanings.

Narrow Neck

One meaning of the Indian word, Niagara, means “Narrow neck.” Because there were significant changes in the land at the time of all the destruction that happened at Christ’s crucifixion. We are not surprised by the evidence that the Great Lakes area was much larger and very different from what it is today.

In the elevation chart below, you see the distance between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is 35 miles. The distance a Nephite can walk in a day and a half, as it is described in scriptures (Alma 22:32). Clearly, the “narrow neck” is not Panama. My expert friends have more than one possibility for the “narrow neck” in North America as described in the Book of Mormon.

Book of Mormon Heartland

I am on the board of directors for Brian Nettles, BookofMormonHeartLand.com program. Where we are showing “voices from the dust” from artifacts in the Mississippi drainage area. I did a recent podcast for him on one of these amazing artifacts. These “voices from the dust”, prophesied by Isaiah 28:4, are telling of Christianity in North America and of the infinite atonement described so profoundly in the Book of Mormon.

This elevation chart below of the Great Lakes to the Atlantic is fascinating.

What we know now is that the Straits of Mackinac join Lake Michigan and Heron. They make the largest freshwater lake in the world, 45,300 sq mi (about 120,000 sq km). How awesome it was back then, when Lake Algonquin was much bigger, and important to them for shipping. Mined copper from that area has been found in other parts of the world.

Lake Algonquin Anciently

The US Geological Survey Monograph 53 is titled The Pleistocene of Indiana and Michigan and the history of the Great Lakes. It was authored by Frank Leverett and Frank Bursley Taylor and published in 1915 ¹ ². The monograph describes the glacial features and the great glacial lakes of a district in Indiana and Michigan lying between the areas covered by Monographs XXXVIII, and XLI. The pre-Wisconsin glacial and interglacial formations are given attention, but the principal subject of discussion is the Wisconsin drift of the Saginaw lobe and the neighboring portions of the Lake Michigan and Huron-Erie lobes.

The Book of Mormon Message is True

All of this leads us to know with certainty that the Book of Mormon message is true with Christ being here in North America. Here, He came as a glorified resurrected being sharing the fullness of the gospel. That book is another witness that Jesus is the Christ joining with the Bible. In the Book of Mormon, we learn of God’s perfect and infinite love for us. We learn of His perfect and infinite Atonement amid all our imperfections. We are privileged to live in that day when the Native Americans are now blossoming as a rose. “Voices from the dust” are telling the Book of Mormon story in the heartland of North America. These transpirings are in fulfillment of prophecies in preparation for the Lord’s glorious Second Coming.

The Perfect Infinite Atonement

How do you comprehend the incomprehensible? As mortals, we cannot! But let us seek with body, mind, and spirit to internalize the Lord’s Perfect Infinite Atonement amid all our imperfections. We are promised Eternal Life (John 17:3)–the greatest of all the gifts of God, as we do so. (D&C 14:7)

Other Books To Come Forth

Seven is the number of perfection or completeness in the Lord’s arithmetic, and there are seven steps to His Perfect and Infinite Atonement. Furthermore, there are seven sub-steps within each of those incredible steps the Savior completed for us. In addition, in the Book of Mormon, Nephi tells us of “other books” (1 Nephi 13:39) to come forth in our day. And we are seeing that happen in amazing ways to help us better understand the “Perfect and Infinite Atonement.”

Dezert-Owl

Ferrar Fenton

Ferrar Fenton, M.R.A.S. (1832-1920) was a London businessman, manufacturer, and financial organizer. He is perhaps most well-known for translating The Bible into Modern English, commonly referred to as the Ferrar Fenton Bible. Fenton’s translation was a life time avocation–desiring to go back to the original languages; he purposely avoided other translations–seeking the purity of the original revelations of the Bible. He spent approximately fifty years working on his translation. His goal was “to study the Bible absolutely in its original languages, to ascertain what its writers actually said and thought. Aquarian Gospel Of Jesus Christ

The AQUARIAN GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST by Levi is a monumental contribution covering the Savior’s life from birth until Pentecost. The above books go far beyond the traditional apocrypha that one finds in some Bibles, and there are others we could mention as well.

Christians Miss the Richness of the Infinite Atonement

Essentially all Christians miss the richness of our Lord’s infinite and perfect atonement. Most in my church as well. I hear members and leaders express gratitude for the atoning sacrifice, and in the last LDS General Conference (1-2 April 2023) I heard several express gratitude for the atoning sacrifice and the resurrection–missing the Lord’s glorious visit to the Spirit world as the sixth step in the infinite atonement–opening up missionary work there and letting the prisoners go free. There are nearly ten times more folks in the Spirit world than here below.

Most Christians look to the cross and to the blood of Jesus to cover their sins. They look to His suffering for them for the path to redemption. They miss, “He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth; (D&C 88:6)” His glorious resurrection is the capstone to His infinite atonement. It is His resurrection that overcame the physical death brought about by the fall of Adam and Eve. Because of His resurrection, all will be resurrected. It His resurrection the brings us back into His presence. It His resurrection that opens the door to a fulness of joy (D&C 93:33-34). It is His resurrection that commenced the glorious “first resurrection.”

There is only one place in the Bible that in passing mentions the beginnings of the glorious first resurrection: (JS-Matt. 27; the bold is added in the Joseph Smith translation.)

56 And the graves were opened; and the bodies of the saints which slept, arose, who were many,
57 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

The Book of Mormon tells the rest of the story how the first resurrection included all the saints all the way back to Adam and Eve. Because of His resurrection the graves were opened for all the saints all across the globe. What a spectacular-barely-mentioned event–probably greatly blessing millions of souls.

A World Turned Upside Down

In a world that is turning upside down, as Satan knows it is his last hour, and while anticipating the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, there is nothing more important for us to do than to come unto Him. Those who do not will be “cut off” at His Coming. As we contemplate what He has done, is doing, and will do for us, it fills our souls with the deepest of gratitude. As we come unto Him and repent, mercy is extended to us satisfying the demands of justice and overcoming the effects of the fall of Adam and Eve.

7 Steps to the Infinite Atonement Of Jesus Christ

1. In GETHSEMANE (Alone) He suffered for our sins, so much that He sweat great drops of blood (Lk 22:44; Mosiah 3:7-10).

2. BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN (Rejected by His own, Israel) (Mt. 26:21; Zech. 11:12-13; John 10:33; Mt. 26:67; Mt. 26:33-34; Mt. 27:25; Mt. 23:37; Heb. 1:6)

3. BEFORE THE ROMANS (Rejected by the Gentiles, the world) (Mk. 15:2; Mk. 15:15; John 19:2; John 19:2; Mt. 27:29; Mt. 27:29-31; John 19:10-11)

4. SEVEN SAYINGS ON THE CROSS (All of the previous sufferings came on Him, and this time He bore them alone) (Lk. 23:24; 23:43; John 19:26-27; John 19:28; Ps. 22:1; Mk. 15:34; Mt. 27:46; Lk. 23:46; John 19:30)

5. GAVE HIS LIFE VOLUNTARILY (He did perfectly the will of the Father) (John 10:18; John 5:30; 6:38; Mt. 20:18-19; John 18:37; John 19:34)

VISIT TO THE SPIRIT WORLD (There are nearly 10 times more souls there than here) (John 5:25; “Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ” by Levi: Section XX Chapter 172:15-23; “Jesus did not sleep within the tomb… And in the realms of souls…the Lord went forth and taught… In council, all the masters sat and talked about the revelations of the coming age.” Luke 16:19-31; The Savior bridged the gulf – organizing the enormous missionary work there. Great rejoicing over all the dispensations back to Adam – gathered and proclaimed the goodness of God. (Doctrine Covenants 138)

Prison doors open and the prisoners go free as they come to Christ. (1 Peter. 3:18-20; 4:6; Doctrine & Covenants 138:22. They that hear shall live. Live according to God in the spirit; judged according to men in the flesh. (John 5:25-29; 1 Pet. 4:6) Father’s hearts turned to the children and children’s hearts to the fathers; otherwise, the purpose of the earth wasted at His Coming (Malachi 4:5-6)).

Professor Hugh Nibley – Acts 1:3

Professor Hugh Nibley shares that Acts 1:3 is one of the most unusual verses in all of our scriptures: “[Christ] showed himself alive after his sufferings by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things about the kingdom of God.” In this blog article, I share a link to a two-hour lecture Nibley provides from apocryphal literature how he taught the temple ceremony and that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. The Christian community believes that Good Friday commemorates the day of Christ’s crucifixion. I prove this tradition wrong in a blog article, as He was crucified on Thursday and was three days in the tomb.

Visits Other Lands After Resurrection

The people of Finland have a very strong oral tradition, which was recently recorded telling of the Savior visiting them after His resurrection. In 1981 I was giving a three-week lecture tour in China. When visiting Xian, I was walking around in a museum of stelae, and this one stela caught my eye as it had a Hebrew-robed figure with a nap sack on his shoulder. Then I noticed his feet were bare and he was standing above water. Then I saw the marks on his feet. I immediately asked my tour guide if she could read the inscription with the man, and she replied, “It was in ancient Chinese,” and she couldn’t read it. I, of course, took a picture, which I have in my personal files. My witness is that the Savior visited them and there are other artifacts in China suggesting the same.

All Twelve Tribes of the House of Israel are in the patriarchal blessings in both Russia and Mongolia. I suspect the same will be true in China when they are given the fullness of the gospel.

He Walked The Americas

Taylor Hansen researched the legends of the native Americans for 25 years and wrote a book, He Walked the Americas. When I got the book, I couldn’t put it down and stayed up all night reading it. She is not a member of the Mormon Church, but what she shares in story and picture form aligns amazingly with the visit of Christ as a resurrected being to America, as described in the Book of Mormon. (3 Nephi Chapters 11-30)

I Have Other Sheep

The Savior prophesied, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” John 10:16 So we have the witness of the resurrected Christ all around the world. When He was in America, he proclaimed, “And verily, verily, I say unto you that I have other sheep, which are not of this land, neither of the land of Jerusalem, neither in any parts of that land round about whither I have been to minister. For they of whom I speak are they who have not as yet heard my voice; neither have I at any time manifested myself unto them.

But I have received a commandment of the Father that I shall go unto them, and that they shall hear my voice, and shall be numbered among my sheep, that there may be one fold and one shepherd; therefore I go to show myself unto them.” (3 Nephi 16:1-3) We wonder how many other peoples He visited, whose stories are yet to be told? The AQUARIAN GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST by Levi tells of several others that he visited after His resurrection.

The Best News

The perfect infinite Atonement is completed by the glorious resurrection. It opens the resurrection for all and the perfection of the earth. It gives the greatest hope possible to all of Father’s children in His perfect plan of happiness in this fallen world. As Paul announced, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:19-22)
The gospel is not only the “good news;” it is the best news.

“For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy;” (Doctrine and Covenants 93:33) It is because of the resurrection that the fullness of joy is possible. How can we tell the wonders of His ways and the magnitude of His perfect infinite atonement?

Share this NEWS with rejoicing

The Scriptures are replete in the telling. The more we ponder, pray, and study the importance of what He has done, and is doing for us, and will do for us, the more we want to share this NEWS with rejoicing with the whole world – shout it from the roof-tops.

His glorious resurrection is the capstone to the perfect infinite atonement and is the best-documented miracle in the history of the earth. When it happened that early Sunday morning, it was witnessed by the hundred Jewish soldiers standing guard as a brilliant light came down from the heavens, and over the night they heard three times: “Adon Mashich Cumi,” which means, “Lord Christ arise.”

The last time was just before sunrise. “the heavens blazed with light… And then the white-robed form tramped on the Roman seal, and then he tore it into shreds; he took the mighty stone in hand as though it were a pebble from the brook, and cast it to the side. And Jesus opened up his eyes and said, ‘All hail the rising sun! the coming of the day of righteousness!’

From Mortal to Immortal

“They saw the body of the Nazarene transmute they saw it change from mortal to immortal form, and then disappeared. The soldiers heard a voice from somewhere; yea, from everywhere, it said, ‘Peace, peace on earth; good will to men.’” (Chapter 172:26-41

In Pontius Pilot’s account, he sent his trusted secretary, MALCUS, “He said that at about the beginning of the fourth watch, They Saw A Soft And a Beautiful-Lyght Up Above the Sepulcher… The Entire Place was lit up and there seemed to be A Crowd Of The Dead Walking around in their grave clothes. Each Of Them Seemed To Be Shouting And Filled With Ecstasy while All Around And Above, was Heard, The Most Beautiful Music he had ever experienced: And The Whole Sky Seemed To Be Full Of Voices Praising: YHV: Yahll’Vol’Hay/God. At This Time there seemed to be a reeling and rocking back-and forth of The Entire Earth…” (THE CRUCIFIXION REPORT OF PONTUS PILOT TO: TIBERIUS CAESAR) The Earth was rejoicing with the resurrection of its Creator.

Gratitude

The best way we can show our gratitude for the Perfect Infinite Atonement is to have total faith in Him who gave us this enormous and most important gift, to repent of all our sins, to share this glorious message of the gospel, to live the law of love, which is equivalent to obedience to all the commandments. If He had not completed all seven steps of the infinite atonement, all would be lost. Because His Perfect Infinite Atonement overcame both the physical and spiritual deaths brought about by the Fall of Adam and Eve, this disproves Darwin’s theory of organic evolution. If there were no Fall, then there would be no need for an atonement to overcome the effects of the Fall. Therefore, organic evolution is anti-Christ.

If everyone lived the law of love that Christ taught, it would solve all the world’s problems. Completely, receiving and internalizing the perfect infinite atonement is the doorway to the greatest happiness in this life and a fullness of joy in the world to come. We cannot comprehend “INFINITE,” but the more we do the closer we draw to Him who perfectly completed it for all of us because of His infinite love for each of us, and because of Heavenly Father’s and Heavenly Mother’s and the Savior’s infinite love for us to give us the gift of our Beloved Savior. Amid all our imperfections, it is a Perfect Plan of Happiness.

In Honor of my Dad

I was journaling the other day and ran across my dad’s obituary. In honor of my Dad, I would like to share memories of a remarkable man. He was an enormous blessing in my life to be close to him during my growing-up years. His creativity was so inspiring to me. The picture is of my Mom and Dad.

I was doing some work for USNO (United States Naval Observatory) in Florida. I was helping them design an environment for their atomic clocks to avoid the effects of EMP coming from lightning. My mom called me and told me that Dad was not doing well. We immediately changed our plans and caught the next flight from Miami to Salt Lake City.

Miracle Number 1

I had never been to Miami before and drove straight to the airport in 18 minutes.

Miracle Number 2

They were just ready to close the doors for that flight to Salt Lake. A minute later we would have missed spending the last night with Dad.

We had left our car in Riverton at our daughter Jeannette’s place. Our beautiful and compassionate Jeannette picked us up at the SLC airport at about midnight. We got down to the rest home in Springville about 2:00 a.m. Dad was unconscious, but moving around in great pain. His body was fighting heavy infection from bedsores. They increased his pain medicine dose, which helped a little. My wife, Edna, and I were able to express our love for him over the night—believing that he could hear us

About 7:30 a.m., Mom called to see how he was doing. She said she felt he would be leaving us that day. I called Jeanne, my younger sister, and she said she was on her way to the rest home. While I was talking to Jeanne, Dad passed. It was February 19th, 1994.

Miracle Number 3

With a smile on his face, Edna saw his hands raise as someone was taking him home. I believe it was my grandfather to with a peaceful smile on his face, he was gone. Over the night his face showed grim–his dad. The pain was gone! When Edna told me he had passed, I put my arms around her and cried like a baby. I don’t know how a mortal man could have loved his father any more than I do my DAD! Thank you, Lord, for eternal families.

Precious Memories

During the four-hour flight to Salt Lake, I wrote eight pages of highlights from my experiences with Dad. I re-read those eight pages the other day and was in tears of gratitude for the privilege to have this great man as my father. It came to me that he was 87 when he died and my wife and I are 87.

Sylvester Allan’s Obituary

Patient and loving husband father, grandfather, and great grandfather, SYLVESTER (SMUSS) ALLAN 87 of Mapleton died 13 February 1994 in Springville following a long illness. He was born 7 January 1907 in Mapleton. He married Florence Carrick 2 December 1925, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

“Smuss will be remembered as a multifaceted man, with a non-judgmental nature, with a deep love of mankind, and a large circle of friends. He was especially devoted to his family. His sons-in-law and daughters-in-law felt loved and accepted as if they were his own.

Beyond his work, which was also multidimensional, he had a life of service. He was a charter member of the Lions Club, for both Springville and Mapleton and served also a term as President. He served for 32 years for the Strawberry Water users and four years as its President. He served on the Mapleton City Council.

In his time he was known as one of the most famous river guides in the mountain West. Even though this was in part his profession he brought to it his unique personality–out of which grew large numbers of friends from all over the country. Anyone who has ever been with him on such an outing will remember with relish his famous forty-mile Dutch-oven stew. He has guided tours on many major rivers including the Colorado, the Green, the Yampa, the Snake, the headwaters of the Columbia at the Big Bend, the Middle Fork of the Salmon, the Main Salmon, and Yukon rivers. In addition, he also worked as a river guide for the US Geological Survey.

In addition to farming, he worked with lumber and construction business. Two pieces of his work which will be appreciated by local people are he helped construct the road at Bryce Canyon and the solid walnut benches in the old White Church in Mapleton. He worked at the powder plant and was manager of the Ford-Ferguson Tractor Repair. To neighbors, family, and friends, Smuss could fix anything. His kindly nature often so folks in his shop enjoying the visit while getting something repaired.

Smuss is survived by his wife Florence, four children: Beverly (and Mal) Malheiro of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Dean S. (and Jean) Allan of Springville, David W. (and Edna) Allan of Fountain Green, Utah, Jeanne (and Doug) Strong of Springville, a brother Ira Allan of Mapleton, and a sister Eva Thomas of Spanish Fork. In addition, there are 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday 19 February 94 at 11:00 AM in the White Church in Mapleton. Friends may call at the Wheller Mortuary on Friday evening 6 to 8:00 PM. There will also be a pre-funeral service viewing at the White Church at 10:00 AM. The interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.”

God’s Miracle Number 4

A dear friend of ours has the gift of seeing folks on the other side of the veil. At the viewing, she saw Dad with a big smile and dressed in his temple clothes. At the graveside, she saw him in white without his temple cloths; he had passed by the angels, etc., and was in celestial realms. He was enjoying seeing his grandchildren playing on the grass during the time of the grave dedication ceremony. I am sure he is continuing to do great work for the Lord in heaven because of his great loving nature.

It was so wonderful to see my Dad partaking of the Perfect and Infinite atonement in the midst of all our imperfections. It is Christ who perfects us as we come unto Him; we cannot perfect ourselves (Moroni 10:32-33). Moroni summarizes the great message of the Book of Mormon with that incredible promise from our infinitely loving God.

PS See the incredible WWII movie, The Scarlet and the Black, taking place in Rome based on a true story with Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer. And then see Joseph Smith the American Prophet narrated by Gregory Peck. There are two mistakes in the latter movie. Joseph translated the Book of Mormon from two sets of plates. And it is well documented that Joseph used the Urim and Thummim to do the Book of Mormon translation, and not with a stone in a hat.

There Is No Devil

The claim that “There is no devil” is one of the greatest lies perpetuated on the Earth. A similar great lie is, “There is no conspiracy.” In so doing, the devil and his angels work with those who listen to them and claim that “There is no devil” —under the guise of doing good while perpetuating the most hideous atrocities.

In our pre-mortal existence, we chose to follow Christ when Heavenly Father presented His perfect Plan of Happiness. Lucifer and those who followed him chose otherwise—proposing to save all by taking away their right to choose. Thus, there was a war in heaven, and Lucifer became the devil (Isa. 14:12-16; Rev. 12:4,7-9). Now, the devil and his angels gain great power by the lie that there is no devil. Teaching that conspiracies are made up to deceive. Their overall goal is power and control and to take away individual sovereignty.

The Devil’s Atrocities

Examples of the devil’s atrocities are the rich and power-hungry global elite supplying weapons for both sides for World Wars I and II while making billions of dollars. They have gone on with making billions off of the industrialized military complex with the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the Ukraine war, and now the war on Israel.

They are very clever and the media promotes their false propaganda that they are about doing good—amid all these atrocities. The heart-rending 9/11 disaster is one of their enormous atrocities. It is well documented that 9/11 was a controlled demolition. They and the media designed it to look like a war on terrorism—appearing to be on the defensive when in fact they were on the offense.

The global elite’s evolutionary model of humankind makes their so-called brilliance narrow-minded. While they want to get rid of people, God’s plan is the opposite. They think of us as gun fodder and as evolved dispensable creatures. Wordsworth’s poem gives us a glimpse into God’s inspired Plan for us:

“Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting;
The soul that rises with us, our life’s star
Hath had elsewhere It’s setting,
And cometh from afar;
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God who is our home.”

Our infinitely loving Father gave each of us our life’s plan that would best bring us back to Him, if we would but choose the right. I see God’s hand in every direction (Moses 6:63). A beautiful and inspiring example of God’s handiworks is Handel’s inspired Messiah dictated from above.

Global Elite Ignore Historical Facts

The global elite ignore historical facts. The best-documented miracle in history is the life mission and infinite atonement of our Lord and Savior. I believe Flavius Josephus was and is the most essential historian ever. We all have unique missions. I believe he was highly unusual as we see him as a Jew, and a Roman, and surprising to almost everyone, there is substantial extent evidence that later in his life he became a Christian Bishop in Jerusalem. I have the complete works of Josephus.

While the global elite believe the Bible to be a myth, I share 1,800 phrases tying back to the language of Adam that scientifically validate the scriptures. Both Joseph in Egypt (2 Nephi 3:11) and Nephi (1 Nephi 13:38-40) prophesied that this would happen–both the myth and the validation. Further more, we have direct evidence of the resurrected Lord coming to America. Choose Christ

Our greatest opportunity in our mortal sojourn with celestial realms of glory as our goal is to choose Christ by exercising faith in Him. We have His promise that as we treasure up His WORD, we will not be deceived by the adversary (JS-M 37; D&C 10:5). We are also here on Earth to use our intelligence to help make the world a better place. We read, “And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come (D&C 130:19).”

I wrote a blog article about using our intelligence wisely: The Glory of God is Intelligence. All good comes from Christ; all evil comes from the devil. But, then there are all the gradations in between where we have the opportunity to use our intelligence wisely. God is pleased if we choose to augment His work. “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples (John 15:8).”

We can use our eternal intelligence in three fundamental ways: 1) to choose Christ; 2) to use our intelligence to create to make the world a better place; or 3) to choose the devil. Our Creator created us to be creators. It is a grand opportunity for us to be creators during our mortal journey and to augment the work of the Lord. There is great joy and satisfaction in so doing.

The best thing we can do with our intelligence is to help as many as we can to come to know the Father and the Son (John 17:3). That knowing is the path to the greatest of all the gifts of God—ETERNAL LIFE (D&C 14:7). Then we can expose the works of the devil and his angels. Their works lose their effectiveness when exposed. Their works of darkness are brought into the light and diffused.

2024, a Spectacular Year

I believe this year, 2024, will be a spectacular year. You will see the global elite trying to destroy the US Presidential election process. Also, the “mark of the beast” will likely show his ugly head with the global elite trying to take control of money. So that you cannot buy or sell without their permission. The prophesied Davidic servant will begin his great preparatory ministry laying the ground work for the Lord’s glorious coming. President Ezra Taft Benson prophesied of a “great division” both inside and outside of the Lord’s Church, I believe we are seeing that happen (2 Nephi 30:10).

Great Plan of Happiness

How blessed we are to know who is really in charge of the Grand Plan of Happiness. He knows how to turn every evil into good and will do so in due process. If we chose Christ, we get to help Him bring about ZION and the ideal society motivated by the pure love of Christ.

PS: As an example of how I have used my intelligence to serve the scientific community, I believe the Lord gave me the inspiration for the Allan variance. Googling “Allan variance” and you will get about 3.5 million results, and it is growing in usage.

Following that work my colleagues and I developed the Modified Allan variance and the Time variance; these are denoted in the literature as AVAR, MVAR, and TVAR. All three of these variances became international metric standards in 1988. They are used widely in the time and frequency, navigation, and telecom communities and in ever-increasing areas of metrology.

Using These Variances

Using these variances, Gus German and I worked together for ten years. The first five years we worked on the Unified Field Theory that the Lord revealed to us. The seven experiments coming out of that work are shared in Chapter 21 of It’s About Time. The last five years, we worked on GPS denial problems using an ensemble of precision quartz-crystal oscillators supplied to us by Bliley Technologies.

We presented the results of what is known as EQUATE at an international Frequency Control Symposium in San Francisco in 2011. And, a year later I wrote a tutorial sharing my work in characterizing the performance of timekeeping devices. Now, that tutorial is on my books’ website for all to have access to: “Conversion of Frequency Stability Measures from the Time-domain to the Frequency-domain, vice-versa and Power-law Spectral Densities.”
The last page of this tutorial is a chart showing the timekeeping ability of everything from egg timers to earth time, to atomic clocks, and to international time, UTC. The timing folks at NASA/JPL were so intrigued with this chart that they put an enlarged version of it on the wall in their timing lab. I helped the folks at JPL synchronize the H-maser atomic clocks at their three Deep Space Tracking stations using a GPS Common-view receiver that they paid us to build for them. It later became an international time-transfer technique for the generation of international time, UTC.

Science of Timekeeping

For those not familiar with the science of timekeeping the following simple illustration will be useful. We let νo be the nominal frequency of a clock. Its actual frequency at time t is ν(t). We define y(t) = (ν(t) – νo)/νo. If y(t) = νo then the clock is perfect, which never happens because of noise. The time error of a clock, x(t) is the integral of y(t). To explain, suppose an atomic clock has a y(t) of a positive one nanosecond per day and continuing at that rate. Then that clock’s x(t) will move ahead in time a nanosecond every day.  A nanosecond is a billionth of a second. That is the time it takes light to travel 30 cm (about one foot). This is the level of precision needed for the atomic clocks in the GPS satellites.

The Allan variance is ½ the average value of <(y(t + τ) – y(t))^2> averaged over a data set. The y values are adjacent and each averaged over τ. As the averaging time, τ, is changed for a data set the level of noise, as well as the different kinds of noise, are revealed. I used it in developing the AT1 algorithm in 1968, which generates official time for the USA. I believe the Lord also gave me that algorithm; it is still “ticking today” with improvements added by my outstanding colleagues. The Italians and the Israelis asked me to implement this algorithm for them. I did that in 1969 and 1987-92, respectively. For those having some math skills, the math behind AT1 is also on my books’ website.

Because of my work, my name is known across the globe because of these variances and my work in helping to develop GPS. So because of that, I get to share the “Message of Gladness”—the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ across the globe; and this is my JOY (Alma 29:9).

What Time Is It?

Ironically, the times the world community has responded to the question, “What time is it?” have changed dramatically over time. Knowing what time it is, has been driven mainly by technological needs and advancements. We will see enormous religious implications to what time it is! We read, “…there should be time no longer (Rev. 10:6).”

Traditionally, time has been kept astronomically. Ironically, the invention of atomic clocks has driven the advancement astronomically! In my lifetime, timekeeping accuracy has moved forward an amazing billion-fold. Historically, the agrarian world cared more about the seasons than about what time it was.

First Atomic Clock

Harold Lyon’s ammonia MASER was the first atomic clock (1949). I went to work at the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in Boulder, Colorado, in 1960. The physics of the ammonia maser is fascinating, and NBS had one I got to work on. After the invention of the maser, Charles Townes went on to invent the LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation). Can you imagine how many LASER scanners there are across the world, considering there is one at every store’s checkout stand? These most useful devices come from the physics of timekeeping!

Pendulum Clock

Galileo used his heartbeat to measure the period of a swinging chandelier in the cathedral in Pizza, Italy. There is a baptism by immersion font in that same cathedral. (We have been there). From those heartbeat measurements, Galileo deduced some interesting laws of physics—preceding Newton. The pendulum clock was invented by Christiaan Huygens in 1656. It became the world’s standard timekeeper, used in homes and offices for 270 years.

Timekeeping World Changed

The timekeeping world changed dramatically in 1735 with John Harrison’s invention of a marine chronometer. (See Dava Sobel’s LONGITUDE). With Harrison’s chronometer, mariners could determine accurate longitude, which was essential for accurate sea navigation, as the Earth spins under the heavens.

This chronometer gave significant superiority to the English Navy. In 1833, the famous Greenwich Observatory time ball was installed. Thus, the ships at port in London could see to synchronize their chronometers before they went out to sea!

The National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in Washington D.C. started broadcasting the time in 1919 from radio station WWV. They used a precision pendulum chronometer and got the correct time from the nearby United States Naval Observatory (USNO). Then, Quartz clocks were invented in the 1930s with significantly superior timekeeping ability. These were the main timekeepers until the invention of atomic clocks.

Idea of the Atomic Clock

In the 1940s, Nobel Prize winner, Isador Isaac Rabi is credited with the idea of an atomic clock. One can think of the oscillating frequency of a photon coming from an atomic transition in an atom or molecule. We add up the oscillations of these photons and make an atomic clock.

The time and frequency Rabi award was named after him. In 1983, he was the first recipient. I was privileged to have breakfast with him on the day of the award ceremony in Philadelphia. I was greatly honored to be the second recipient a year later.

Atomic Time Generated

If you are going to replace the spinning and orbiting Earth as a clock, then that clock needs to never stop. Keeping atomic clocks running continuously is no small matter. Continuous atomic time was first generated by Louis Essen and Jack Parry at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, England. So, in June 1955 atomic timekeeping had its birth in the world at NPL using a transition in cesium. The cesium transition was much more accurate than Lyons’ ammonia maser. Lyons went on to build the world’s first cesium-beam frequency standard, NBS-1, in 1952, but he never turned it into a clock.

Move To Boulder, Colorado

In 1954, the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) was moved to new laboratories in Boulder, Colorado. You can see Roger Beehler working with NBS-1 in this link: https://www.nist.gov/pml/time-and-frequency-division/time-services/brief-history-atomic-clocks-nist. You can see all the rest of the NBS/NIST cesium-beam standards up to NIST-7. In contrast to astronomical phenomena, atomic frequency standards have gotten ten times better about every seven years.

The square root of the Allan variance can be written in a form that gives an estimate of how stable and accurate an atomic frequency standard can be: σ y (τ) = Δν/(ν Signal to Noise). The fractional frequency is defined as y = (v(t) – vo)/vo, vo is the nominal frequency of the transition of interest. If ν(t) is exactly on frequency, then y(t) is zero. But that rarely happens. The atomic transition line width is denoted by Δν. The Signal/Noise improves as Nτ, where N is the number of atoms or molecules interrogated per second, and τ is the time over which y(t) is averaged.

One can see from this equation, that as the transition frequency line width, Δν, improves the stability and accuracy potentially improve. The longer the atoms or molecules can be interrogated, the smaller is Δν. In a cesium-beam atomic clock, the atoms can only be observed for a few milliseconds. When the cesium fountain was invented, the observation time went up to nearly a second, and the accuracies and frequency stabilities achieved improved greatly as well.

One can also clearly see from this equation that the higher the atomic transition frequency the better can be the accuracy and frequency stability. The cesium transition is a microwave frequency. By going to optical and ultraviolet frequencies great advances have been achieved in accuracy and frequency stability. These frequencies are about 100,000 times higher than the cesium microwave transition. In my career time, atomic clock accuracies have improved from 10^-10 to 10^-18; that is a hundred-million-fold improvement.

GPS is One Example

AMAZING. Many Nobel Prize winners have contributed to these incredible advancements in timing technology. Technology has benefited enormously as well. GPS is one great example. The current best atomic clocks are 10,000 times better than are needed for GPS. GPS timing works at the nanosecond level–that is a billionth of a second. That is the time it takes light to travel 30 cm (about a foot per nanosecond).

Official Atomic Time in USA

Since 9 October 1957 NBS in Boulder, CO has maintained an atomic time scale, (NBS-A). The primary cesium-beam frequency standard moved to Boulder in 1954, but time was broadcast from WWV in Beltsville, Maryland. WWV then had a precision quartz-crystal clock and was still getting its time from USNO.

A Millionth of a Second

On 24 April 1963, Jim Barnes and Lowell Fey carried a portable quartz-crystal-oscillator clock from Boulder to Beltsville, Maryland, and back with a precision of 5 µs (A microsecond is a millionth of a second). Then, timekeeping commenced in Boulder using an ensemble of precision quartz-crystal oscillators. Their portable clock trip took NBS-A time to Boulder, and the primary frequency standard was just across the hall. This gave an accuracy for NBS-A to ten significant digits. This was ten times better than the Earth as a clock.

Generating Official Time for the U.S.

Jim Barnes then wrote the first atomic-clock time-scale algorithm program to use the calibrations from the cesium-beam atomic frequency standard across the hall. He then used the calibrated quartz-clock ensemble to carry time forward until the next calibration. When Jim became the Section Chief, I was given the responsibility for generating official time for the United States. I did that for most of my 32 years we lived in Boulder, Colorado.

Algorithm, AT-1 Still Ticking

I believe the Lord gave me the algorithm, AT-1, in 1968, for generating official time for the USA. Then we had an ensemble of eight atomic clocks and the US primary frequency standard to work with. The AT-1 algorithm optimally combines the readings taken from an atomic clock ensemble. The computed output of that algorithm is designed to be better than the best clock in the ensemble. Significant improvements have been made to AT1 by my outstanding colleagues and friends over the years. New and different kinds of clocks have been added with their own challenges and improved performance differences.

With those improvements, as far as I know, AT-1 is “still ticking” today. In 2018, I received the IEEE $10,000 Keithley Award, “For leadership in time determination and precise timing instruments.” I thank the Lord for His help in this work. It has been most insightful and enjoyable.

A Two-Part Device

For human-kind of timing, we can think of a clock as a two-part device. First, a clock has a periodic event device that oscillates at a steady frequency. Second, it has a counter to count those oscillations. For example, most wristwatches and clocks today use a quartz-crystal tuning fork as the oscillator or periodic event device. It oscillates at 32,768 Hz (cycles per second). A 2^15 binary divider is then used to generate one-second intervals, which are then counted to give you a display of hours, minutes, and seconds for your clock or wristwatch.

When measured precisely, we know that every clock is oscillating at the wrong rate and its time is in error. The only clock that is right is the one we define to be right. For the USA, it is UTC(NIST). For the world, it is UTC (Universal Time Coordinated.) Official world time used to be Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The name was changed from GMT to UTC in 1972, with the introduction of “leap-seconds” as needed to chase the earth’s fluctuations in time.

A Momentous Day for Timekeeping

Friday the 13th of October, 1967, was a momentous day for timekeeping. The world community shifted from astronomical timekeeping to atomic clocks for keeping time. Atomic clocks have been shown to be much more accurate than any astronomical phenomena. And as mentioned before, atomic clocks have improved by a factor of ten about every seven years. This is like Moore’s law. Today, accuracies of 0.1 picoseconds per day are realized. This is ten thousand times better than is needed for the atomic clocks in GPS. A picosecond is a million-millionth of a second.

A New Definition of The Second

On that day in 1967 the world received a new definition of the second. It is defined as, “9 192 631 770 periods of the ground-state hyperfine transitions of cesium-133.” The previous definition was the Ephemeris second, which is defined by the Earth’s motion around the sun, as well as lunar motion. It is better than a second for timekeeping purposes. The above oscillation frequency for cesium was arrived at by the Paris Observatory, the Greenwich Observatory, and the United States Naval Observatory. The astronomers involved were Bernard Guenot, Humphrey Smith, and William Markowitz, respectively.

I was privileged to know all three of these gentlemen. The 9 192 631 770 periods agreed with the Ephemeris second, as these three gentlemen determined. The cesium definition remains today. With the high accuracies that have now been achieved in atomic clocks, a new definition is a major topic among the scientists involved.

What is Time?

“What Time is it?” is a very different question than, “What is Time?” The most important “time” is God’s TIME. Yet, most don’t have a clue what God’s TIME is. I explain God’s TIME in my two books: It’s About Time and Time & Eternity, The End-Times & Beyond Revealed,” as best I can. Here, I have discussed “time” as generated by humans. In my books, I discuss its relationship to God’s calendars and His TIME. I also discuss what the Apostle John means, “time no longer (Rev. 10:6).” The concept of God’s “One Eternal Round” is profound as well. This is a fun trip through understanding what time is and what time isn’t. Perhaps for more fun for the academics across the world than for my Christian compatriots. But, knowing where we are in God’s TIME should be very important to my academic friends as well.

Time is Metaphysical

It is important to know that time cannot be extracted from the Universe; it is metaphysical. It is an idea in our minds. My dear friend, emeritus professor of philosophy, Chauncey C. Riddle, has the best definition of time that I have seen. He shares, “Time seems to be the possibility of change.” This was particularly interesting to me, because in my master’s thesis, the metric developed optimally measures the change, in a variance sense, in the timekeeping rate of atomic clocks. The world knows it as the “Allan variance.”

As I Google the “Allan variance,” today I got 3,550,000 results, and the usefulness continues to grow. I believe the Lord inspired me in this as well. In 2016, the IEEE/UFFC celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the publication of my thesis. They published a special issue with 16 different papers highlighting different uses of the Allan variance.

At the conference, they gave me the highest IEEE/UFFC award with the citation, “For seminal work to the UFFF community regarding time determination, time prediction, time dissemination and timekeeping through contributions to atomic frequency standards, space-based navigation, time and frequency stability analysis, time-scale algorithms, and timekeeping devices.”

Time Is Not Time

So, time, as we use it and define it, is not time, but a time interval. Scientists assume time runs uniformly throughout the Universe—including Einstein’s relativistic considerations. We contracted with Professor Neil Ashby to do the relativity equations needed for GPS. We are good friends and have written several papers together. Scientists share nothing of time-warp events, which have been documented. We know from our UFT experiments that time and space are mortal limitations. The scientist’s assumption above is incorrect.

God’s Physics

In God’s physics, we learned of a fifth dimension outside the four relativistic dimensions of time and space. We call it the Eternity Domain. This is where God and His angels do their work in the Kingdom of Heaven. Under God’s direction, the Kingdom of Heaven is perfectly organized. That is why the Lord asks us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Sincere prayer takes us into the “Eternity Domain” where we may learn the TRUTHS of GOD and help bring heaven on earth!

Where Are We in God’s Time?

A significant portion of both of my books deals with where we are in God’s TIME. Please go there to learn what I have learned about God’s TIME. Knowing God’s TIME and preparing for eternity is the most important thing we can do and help others to do. Most of my energies are spent in this direction. I ask the question of the Lord, “What is Thy will to best help me to serve today?”

The Lord never directs every step in our lives. Given the incredibly important gift of free choice, which is part of our intelligence, He wants us to think for ourselves. TO THINK! That sounds exciting. We grow emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually in that Divinely designed process of using our agency to use our time and talents to serve.

THINK – LEARN – SERVE – LOVE!!!

“Seek learning even by study and also by faith (D&C 109:7).” To think and learn the TRUTHS of God that we may better love (Matt. 22:36-40) and serve (Mosiah 2:17). My personal joke is to learn faster than I forget! THINK and LEARN and SERVE and LOVE!!! Therein is the greatest joy in time and eternity. Wise men sought for and found the Savior of the World anciently. Wise humans today are doing the same.

One who thinks comes to Christ in humility. There he/she enjoys the fruits of faith, repentance, and receiving of His mercy and grace. He/she receives the greatest of joy in this life and a fullness of joy in the life to come. It’s about time and eternity! I REJOICE in all the Lord has taught me about time and eternity. But, I am still a babe in the woods. This I know, He is the Way, the TRUTH, and the LIGHT, and the life (John 14:6).
