In the days ahead, I believe having a strong immunity is very important and trusting in the Lord to be imperative. In His infinite capacity to do so, He lovingly blesses our lives according to that which will best be for our eternal good. Here I share some personal experiences of herbal remedies and priesthood blessings that have been monumental for me in my mortal journey. But this I know, His blessings cover body, mind, and soul – respecting our agency (free choice). Life’s challenges are for our growth. He never said it would be easy, and He will force no man to heaven; if He were to do so, it would not be heaven.”
On January 1st, 1999, I was inadvertently poisoned while we were on our mission in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. It caused a significant heart arrhythmia problem. When I got home the following March and had a physical exam, the doctor said, “This is life-threatening. You have two choices: you can be operated on or be on medication for the rest of your life.” I said, “I like the third choice.” To get a priesthood blessing and look at naturopathic and herbal opportunities. I found several herbs and specifically Hawthorne Berry Juice. Interestingly, and we have a lot of Hawthorne trees in our county. After about three months the arrhythmia was gone. THANK YOU, LORD!
I had a heart attack on 1 August 2016, I sought a priesthood blessing and had peace in my heart that everything would be fine. The following morning, I went through quadruple bypass open-heart surgery. After waking up from the anesthesia, I jokingly asked the doctor, “Did you find a heart?” From our youngest son, Nathan’s, research we learned that the heart attack was caused by stress. I had gone through an extremely stressful situation the Sunday night before the attack. We found strophanthus seed extract is used extensively throughout Europe and not essentially known in the States. Got some and we are on the mend. Also, I have learned how to better deal with stress, naturally, and am still learning since we live in a stress-filled world.
On the 14th and 15th of May, 2018, I had three strokes just before I was scheduled to give an invited talk at an International Conference on Instrumentation and Measurement in Houston, TX. The priesthood blessings and miraculous experiences thereto are written up in the following blog article: A Miracle In Houston.
Our daughter, Karie, and I had several great gospel conversations, and two cases of books that I took along disappeared. It was a great spiritual experience.
On the 28th of December 2005, Edna’s sister, Corrine Dollarhide died. We drove straight through to Taylor, AZ, for the funeral. Driving for twelve hours is not a good idea. The following Spring, we went to the Whitaker Medical Clinic in California. There they diagnosed a deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) – probably caused by the long drive to AZ — and put me in ICU at the local Presbyterian hospital – very kind people and well equipped. They were worried that a clot would bust loose and go to my heart or lungs and take my life.
A side story I found humorous, while they had me in ICU at the hospital overnight, they were monitoring my breathing, heart rate, and oxygen and if anything was abnormal, they were at my bedside in 30 seconds. Since I have an athletic heart, my heartrate would often set off the alarm and they would come running. I probably had the DVT since January and they could see nothing was really wrong, so we went home. At the clinic and the hospital, they had found a big clot in my left groin. Not a good idea to sit too long.
After fifteen years, I believe I have finally found the solution, as this DVT and subsequent blood clotting occurrences have given me significant health challenges ever since. I believe they were the root cause of my strokes, of several painful ulcers that developed on my left heel and ankle – causing me to not be able to wear a shoe on that foot for half a year and many sleepless nights because of the pain.
During my sleepless nights, I got to read David Hocking’s Annotated Book of Jasher – a spiritually rich experience. Reading 2,500 years of parallel Bible history independent of the Bible all the way back to the Garden of Eden touched my soul. In January 2020, I was coughing up blood from a blood clot in my right lung. Thanks to a priesthood blessing that got straightened out. This January, I had the same problem in my left lung, and again the priesthood was there thanks to Kevin Wright our kindly neighbor who was there to give me yet another blessing.
Herbal Solutions – Diet Change
“And now it came to pass”, I believe I am healthier in some ways than I was fifteen years ago thanks to priesthood blessings and HERBAL SOLUTIONS and some diet changes. Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cayenne, garlic, wild-caught salmon and trout, beetroot and red beets, tomatoes, dark chocolate, onions, grapes, blueberries, vitamin E have potential as natural blood thinners. These, along with proper body hydration, exercise, and diet changes that I have learned from Dr. Bikman put me in a healthy happy state of homeostasis.
Fighting Mouth Infections and Strong Teeth
I had a mouth infection, our good friend and master herbalist, Jo Francks, taught me take a heaping tablespoon of coconut oil with a drop of OREGANO oil in it, an swiss it around in your mouth for 20 minutes — then swallow it. It works. I learned from the Weston Price Foundation that Emu oil has many excellent healing properties including strengthening your teeth.
The arrhythmia came back with some of these earlier health challenges. And I have had slight angina as well. I went back on the Hawthorne Berry Juice along with Co-Q10. When I learned of Dr. Bikman’s work last month as a nice Valentine’s present to me from his profound insights, now, the angina is gone and the arrhythmia is gone! And I am breathing ketones showing my insulin is in balance. Dr. Bikman has shown that if your insulin is in balance that ameliorates potential problems that could come from harmful chronic diseases. I did 28.7 miles on my bike last week averaging 18 mph with a heavy headwind! The swelling in my left leg is nearly totally gone, and I can tell I have new circulation taking place, where I was having all the problems in my lower left leg.
When we went on our mission for the Church (1997-99), my wife was inspired to take some Nutribiotic (Grapefruit-seed extract, GSE). It was studied at BYU and shown to be an effective natural antibiotic. We helped people there get over malaria with it. Whenever I feel a sore throat coming on, I put 5 drops in about an ounce of water; stirring it around until it mixes; gargle with it, and then swallow, and the sore throat goes away. It is very bitter and highly dense, but very effective.
I have learned that Emu oil and the benefits of Vitamin K2 MK-4 and Vitamin D and ASEA have helped greatly in healing the ulcers on my left ankle. ASEA is the company name for Redox-signaling Molecules. They occur naturally in the body, but as we get older, we don’t have enough. Athletes have demonstrated about 16% improvement in performance using ASEA. I have a hill on the mountain south-west of our home in Fountain Green that I call ASEA Hill! It is a 38% grade up through the brush. I have tried it a large number of times on my mountain bike, but have only made it up four times. Three times with ASEA assist, and one with special help from the Lord after prayer!
The best part of all my challenges is that they help me grow closer to our Loving Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son. This morning (12 March 2021) I listened to a fantastic talk by Elder David Bednar, “He that hath clean hands and a pure heart”, and also to Jessie Evans Smith singing it: “The King of Glory” – “He That Hath Clean Hands and a Pure Heart”) by Jessie Evans Smith. This talk and music touched my soul to the core. I am reminded of the true story movie of “Ephraim’s Rescue,” where Ephraim Hanks always washes his hands before performing a priesthood blessing, and in two instances raised people from the dead. The Lord has been so good to me, and I know He will perfect us as we come unto Him with the promise of fullness of joy and eternal life. We cannot imagine a better plan than Father’s Perfect Plan of Happiness.
