What Is the Most Important Gift To Mankind?

What is the most important gift of God to mankind mentioned in the Book of Mormon? The most important gift? What a value judgment. However,  let us see if there are reasons it is so.

I believe the most important gift of God to man is mentioned in the Book of Mormon. It is the gift of charity. Another way to name that gift is to say it is the gift of a pure heart. Only a pure heart can love fully and purely. Charity is the pure love that Christ has for all others.

Moroni 7:43-48: “And again, behold I say unto you that he cannot have faith and hope, save he shall be meek, and lowly of heart. If so, his faith and hope are vain, for none is acceptable before God, save the meek and lowly in heart. If a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, he must needs have charity; for if he have not charity he is nothing; wherefore he must needs have charity.  And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail— But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.”

Why Charity?

There is an important reason why charity, pure love, is the greatest gift of God to man. Any human being can be saved from the penalty, due to his having sinned, only through his having faith in Jesus Christ.

The penalty due for sins includes suffering for those sins with the same amount of suffering the person caused in others through that person’s sinning.  He must also make restitution for having wounded or deprived those whom he has sinned against.

The person cannot be forgiven of having sinned until the suffering caused by the sinning has been met by an equal amount of suffering and until the person(s) he has sinned against is fully recompensed for the damage done to them by those sins.  He or she remains as if he or she had never been sinned against.

A person who has sinned must do all he or she can to repair the damage done to others through his or her sinning. However, no one except Christ can fully make those who sinned against the whole as if they had never been sinned against.  They must suffer an equal amount to the suffering they have caused others through sinning unless they repent and come unto Christ and keep covenants with him. Then the suffering of the Savior in the Atonement answers the law of justice by his suffering, and the Savior forgives the one who has come unto him in covenant, keeping the faith.

The Pure Love of Christ

The great thing about the gift of charity, which is the pure love of Christ, is that the person who receives this gift no longer sins. This person who has charity has become like the Savior. The greatest thing we know about the Savior is that because he does his Father’s will in all things, he never sins. The work of Christ is to help us to become as he is and sin no longer.  It also helps us make payment for sins we have committed. Only after those two things are accomplished can anyone be exalted.

For both, we must come unto Jesus Christ and become his little child, “submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.” (Mosiah 3:19)

So, to gain this gift is to become everything. Not to attain it still to be nothing. Our Father and Savior do not want us to remain as nothing. They are trying to share with us the most important thing they have, charity, which is a pure heart.

And you may wonder why faith in Christ is not the greatest gift. Actually, faith is not a wrong answer. It is just that a little faith does not do the job. Charity is the fullness of faith. Only faith that serves God and neighbor with all one’s heart, might, mind and strength can be the greatest gift. The name for that fullness of faith in Christ is charity, the pure love of Christ from Christ.

Eternal Life

But what about D&C 14:7, which says: “And if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all of the gifts of God.” What is eternal life?

“God works to enable his children’s return to his presence so that they may both live with him and live as he does.” (Encyclopedia of Mormonism, article “Eternal Life.”) How does he live? He lives to bless, to minister to others. And how does he bless? He blesses with a pure love, divine charity, doing nothing but helping each person or thing he blesses to have as much joy as possible. So it turns out that “eternal life” is but another name for the fullness of love, which is charity, which is the fruit of a pure heart. So the greatest gift of God to man is eternal life, or charity, or a pure heart, or a fullness of faith in Jesus Christ, all four being different names for doing the same thing.

Does a Scientist Need Faith?

Does a Scientist Need Faith?  In this connection, a very fascinating and remarkable stipulation is imposed upon mathematics by the famous theorem of Kurt Godel. The “…formal systems with which Godel worked are sufficiently rich in syntax for the derivation of all of classical mathematics (and presumably of much of mathematics yet to be developed).” (1) Godel’s theorem proves that for a system to be consistent it must contain “undecidable” propositions; i.e. the scientist has to have faith — even the atheist! Faith in what? Hopefully, most would say, “That which works well and brings about good in the world.” Einstein said, “…the deeper that I delve into the sciences of the universe, the more firmly do I believe that one God, or force, or influence, has organized it for our discovery.” Clearly, Einstein was a believer in his own right and had faith.

Sir Isaac Newton

Sir Isaac Newton—the greatest scientist in recorded history—studied religion more than science and came to know the Creator of it all. Unfortunately, his religious writings have never been published. Fortunately, my good friend, Steven Jones—Emeritus Professor of Physics at BYU—went to the Cambridge library where Newton’s writings have been archived and he, his wife Lezlee, and their daughter copied down significant portions of Newton’s religious writings. Steve prepared a power-point presentation and shared it in a fireside in our home. I took copious notes and Steve let me borrow his slides. I have used these significantly in preparing an Isaac Newton religion Principia in Chapter 3 of my new book, Time & Eternity: The End-Times & Beyond Revealed. Steve’s material has been most helpful in writing the Chapter in that book on, “Where We are in God’s Time.”

Louis Agassiz

Louis Agassiz (1807-1873), considered the greatest natural scientist in his day, declared, “It is the job of prophets and scientists alike to proclaim the glories of God.” He was greatly respected by his contemporary, Charles Darwin. In fact, Darwin shared his feelings with the poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, “What a set of men you have at Harvard! Both universities put together cannot furnish the like. Why, there is Agassiz — he counts for three.” All of Agassiz’s peers knew he was a giant intellectually and spiritually, and he had proven Darwin’s concept of natural selection invalid at the time based on fossil data, showing that there was direct evidence of intelligent design behind the “explosion” of the several different species coming forth, which could not have evolved. Agassiz’s goal was to understand the mind of the Divine–to have faith.

W. H. Murray

W. H. Murray profoundly stated:

Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back,
Always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation),
There is one elementary truth,
The ignorance of which kills countless ideas
And splendid plans:
That the moment one definitely commits oneself,
Then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
And material assistance,
Which no man could have dreamt
Would have come his way.

God is in the details for those who have eyes to see and who have faith.

When powered by faith Goethe’s couplet can bring forth exciting results:

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”

I have seven major inventions the Lord has given me powered by faith that have been a blessing to many and have affected the world community for good.

Gustaf Stromberg

In 1961, Gustaf Stromberg of the Franklin Institute proposed a fifth dimension based on some experiential information. He suggests that this fifth dimension called the “eternity domain” gives to time elasticity while maintaining sequence. He further explains that this eternity domain can…

“...be described as an Almighty, Wise and Living Person, the Creator of all things, physical, mental, and spiritual. In our mind, we have an “image” of this Person and an idea of His existence and nature. We are created in His image,… We can also understand that this Person in His wisdom may select one or more souls to carry important messages and admonitions to other human souls,… Some of these messages we can also hear directly when we listen to the voice of the “Cosmic Conscience.” They tell us unequivocally that the essence of Divine law can be expressed in the simple admonition: “Love ye one another!

In our Unified Field Theory research, we discovered a fifth dimension and we used Stromberg’s name for it–the Eternity Domain–and learned about diallel-field lines. This is how prayer works. We each have a diallel-field line connection to God. Not limited by time and space, the Eternity Domain is where God and His angels do their Divine orchestration where the Kingdom of Heaven is perfectly organized and each of us have been given angels to help us in our mortal journey. It is up to us to have faith and to pray; God loves you and is there for you (Matt. 7:7-8).

Truth Against the World

With eight billion people on this planet, we have eight billion world views. Living the Law of Love means that we respect each view. Be humble and love and learn from others as the opportunity arrives. My goal is like the Druids, “TRUTH against the world”–exposing Satanic deceits and finding and enjoying the glories of God’s infinite goodness. Life gives us challenges and choices to follow our conscience, which is the Spirit of Christ to do good, or not.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

I love the French translation from this verse: ‘les met en pratique’–be a wise person and put His sayings into practice. Be a doer of His Word. In our day, we have the extremely important prophecy: “they who would not hear his voice should be cut off from among the people.” (JS-H 40) The logical equivalent of that prophecy is: “If you want to be with Him at His coming, hearken to His voice.”

The Book of Mormon – Lehi

The Prophet Lehi said it most profoundly in Second Nephi Chapter 2:25 – 27 “Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

“And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.

“Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.”

Regarding faith in the Book of Mormon–Alma shares:

Alma gives us his fundamental definition of faith, “faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.” (Alma 31:21) Hence, you cannot have faith in something which is not true. All things that are true come from Christ. Christ is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). As we ask, seek, and knock, (Mt. 7:7-8) He is there for us to find the TRUTH. Then He gives us the great promise in John 8:12, 32, 36: If we follow Him we will not walk in darkness, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free; then when He sets you free, ye are free indeed. But, it is our choice.

Whether the world wants to believe it or not, all truth is found this way, and religious truths cannot contradict scientific truths. We move to a grand harmony between true science and true religion as we come to Christ, who is the author of and knows all truth. This is my experience. God is the grand Creator; He created us to be creators also. In so doing, as we look to Him who is the Way, (John 14:6) we find joy in fulfilling our missions in mortality.

We Do Not Know Much About Ourselves

Building A Testimony of Christ

Guest Post:  We humans do not know much about ourselves. The things we really know are the familiar things we repeatedly observe. However, most of what we believe, at any given moment, we do not observe, such as our belief in Europe or the Far East. We also have built a fabric of beliefs about many things we do not now sense or perceive, and we live our lives in this web of present knowledge firmly located in a web of present beliefs.

Chauncey C. Riddle

Knowledge and Beliefs

So we have at least two kinds of ideas: Things we presently perceive (our knowledge) and the web of beliefs, which gives meaning and reality to the imaginations in which we hold all of our present perceptions.

The Greeks called these two kinds of ideas physics (the things we sensorily perceive) and metaphysics (the unseen reality beyond the seen reality). It turns out that most of our important ideas about the reality of the universe are metaphysics, not physics. And metaphysics is the realm of faith, the things we believe but cannot prove, that gives understanding to the things we can see and prove.

Every normal human being has a metaphysics that he or she believes but cannot prove. Some people have better metaphysics than others, and this enables them to better predict the future and better explain what is going on in the realm of the things that can be seen. Since no one can prove that their metaphysics is correct, we may conclude that every human being lives by faith in something and that something is their metaphysics. Faith is trusting in something you cannot prove.

Not All Faiths Are Equal

Not all faiths are equal. Some are much better for helping the believer to get what they want than others. Politics is largely the activity of trying to affect the faith of other persons in order to gain power for the politician. Much of so-called general education in colleges is the attempt to enlarge and control the faith of others to affect their politics.

Every charismatic political leader is adept at manipulating the faith of other people.
But to the main point of this discussion: Faith of all kinds and for all persons is built by sequences of choices. Each normal human being lives by faith in a metaphysical structure he or she has built and maintained through daily choices.

The Heart Controls Choices

I assert that each of these choices is controlled mostly by the heart and not the mind of the individual. In other words, people believe and act as they want to, and they adjust their metaphysics to justify what they want and want to do.

What is the evidence that the heart and not the mind controls a person’s metaphysics? Just watch as smokers deny that smoking is harmful. Many know the rational evidence that smoking is harmful, but because they want to smoke, they disregard that evidence and smoke anyway.

Many know that deficit spending by the government is bad for the country, but they support it anyway because they want the short-term benefit that it brings. Many know that stealing is wrong but do it anyway because they want to, etc.

What about Faith in Jesus Christ?

Now the real point of all this is that faith in Jesus Christ is not for everyone because many just do not want to be like Christ. So they do not build a metaphysics that allows Christ to redeem them.

They would rather be like the non-believers and relish their favorite sins than to repent and become a blessing to all around them as Christ is. Some don’t mind being partly like Christ, but they trust in themselves to fashion a life that brings them all the satisfactions they desire rather than the pattern of the true Christian.

So the conclusion is that many people have all the evidence they need to fashion a solid testimony that Jesus is the Christ, but have no testimony of his divinity and power simply because they do not want to live the way he commends. They build testimonies or webs of understanding to self-justify their rejection of the moral standards Christ enjoins upon his faithful followers.

Building a Testimony of Christ

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a moral test to all who hear or know it. Hearing about Christ from books or the testimonies of other humans is a partial test, but the full test comes only when the Holy Spirit bears witness to the individual that Christ is the only pattern of character which can be blessed with a fullness of knowledge and power unto all eternity, which is the only full salvation from this fallen world. As He said in the Sermon on the Mount, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man… (Matthew 7:24)” ‘les met en pratique’

Harmful Conspiracies Destroy Faith

Deceptions or conspiracies are common schemes that can and are destroying faith. Satan uses anyone who will listen to him to distort the truth in order to destroy faith.  He has been successful as the masses are becoming more secular, and the number of atheists and agnostics is growing.  The Savior gave us a gauge, “By their fruits, ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:15-20) And the Lord counsels, “Pray always,… that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work.” (D&C 10:5) The globalist elite use philanthrope to cover their nefarious and satanic activities and deceptions–like the COVID pandemic. Fortunately, many people are waking up and being watchmen on the tower. It’s About Time!

Churches are Feeling the Effects of Secularism

Secularism is the indifference or rejection of religious considerations.  Christianity is declining as a result of secularism, driven in large measure by the liberalizing of our education system, the globalists taking control of the media and the internet, with their godless promotion of the theory of evolution, which often leads to atheism and the destruction of faith in God. All too often there are wolves among the sheep with people doing deceitful things within the rank and file.

Combating Misleading Information

Our good friend, Jonathan Neville, who is an excellent church historian, has uncovered several such historical deceptions made by past historians of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has several books documenting these. As Jonathan points out, the late Church Historian, Leonard J. Arrington, helped the Church prepare for the internet era, but as James and Hannah Stoddard have shared in their book, “Faith Crisis, Volume 2: Beyond Closed Doors,” they expose distortions made by Arrington that are misleading and destroy faith.

Exposing Conspiratorial Activities

My hope here is to help expose some other of these conspiratorial activities that destroy faith and bring about confusion and contention, and by so doing build faith and harmony. The Savior warned, “And there shall be no… disputations among you concerning the points of my doctrine… For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another (3 Nephi 11:28-29).”  If we know the truth then the deception gets exposed and we are freed from the harmful effects. The Savior said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth will make your free… If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:32, 36).”

Examples of Conspiratorial Activities that Destroy Faith

  •  The “Big Bang” theory for creation without God.
  • The theory of Organic Evolution and that the Genesis story is a myth.
  • Joseph Smith was not a prophet but a fraud.
  • The Hill Cumorah is in Central America
  • The only solution for the pandemic is vaccination.
  • The green movement needed to save the world.

There are several others, but here I just deal with these to know the truth about them, to build faith, to avoid contention, and to better prepare our hearts for the Lord’s coming.

How do we know the truth for sure?

Three Powerful Rules Regarding Truth Discernment

  1. We only know something is true if God tells us.
  2. We cannot prove a theory true; we don’t know enough. It is a common mistake when people see agreement with a particular theory or hypothesis, they assume it must be true. Data correlation does not provide validation. Only God knows enough to tell us something is true, which goes back to number 1.
  3. A very valuable tool we do have is that we can prove a theory false if we have valid falsification data.  So, we can know for sure something is false.

I apply these three powerful steps to the above-listed conspiratorial activities.

Disproving Conspiratorial Activities

I prepared an article disproving the first four of these conspiratorial activities with the help of Jonathan Neville’s wonderful work.  You can download this article by clicking here.

This article was well received and I was asked to give a presentation about the same at the Book Of Mormon conference.  You can see this presentation by clicking here.

I have several blog articles falsifying the theory that the only solution to the COVID pandemic is vaccination and providing solutions:

Covid Facts and Cures       – Covid-19 Vaccine       –        Misconduct Regarding Covid 19

Why I’m Not Getting the Covid Vaccine        –      There Is Hope Not Fear

Has the conspiratorial nature of the green movement been exposed?  Having been to Russia–before and after the wall came down–I see a very different picture than most over the thirty years I have been there.  I find the following two links interesting regarding the green movement (Russia and Ukraine) and the vaccination, respectively: the green movement and the vaccine.

What everyone should know and share and be practicing is that God made our bodies with an incredible self-healing and built-in immunity system.  This we should feature as the headline in dealing with any health challenge or pandemic.

We know who we can trust, and it is not the government.    Trust in the Lord    –     The King James Bible

  Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing

The conspiratorial activities are destroying faith, and these folks are like wolves in sheep’s clothing—often in our ranks. And the globalist elite are doing everything they can to take away our liberty, to make us slaves, and to depopulate the planet.  Fortunately, we see a lot of people doing a  lot of good things to combat Satan’s nefarious and faith-destroying activities.

The Truth Will Make Us Free

Because of the great importance of this scripture, “The truth will make [us] Free” – John 8: 32 I prepared a talk on the same. We have great promise. “…by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things (Moroni 10:5). Always, God is the witness of the truth.

How to Reach Out to Those Who Lack Faith

Do you know anyone who has lost faith or an atheist or an agnostic who is searching for the truth?

I was asked to write about this subject by the Lord to reach out across the globe to those who are hungering and thirsting for the TRUTH. The information is in a new PDF article that you can download that will reach out to those honest seekers of truth.   It is titled: God Is The Greatest Scientist.  I give a scientist’s view of the gospel with logic and reasoning to help all who desire to know God loves them and is there for them.

It took me most of a month to write this article ever since the Lord gave me two dreams that got me focused.  The sixteen pages are loaded with the truths that will bring joy to the soul and hope to those who read it with real intent to know the TRUTH. It is my best effort to share the Gospel of Christ logically and reasonably as best as I understand it.  For me, as we consider God’s work, it is most EXCITING and gives great hope in the midst of the storms of life.

Evolution And Faith

Faith or Evolution BYU Studies are soliciting ABSTRACTS for a special issue on EVOLUTION AND FAITH, which will come out next year. (An abstract is a brief summery of research on a particular subject.)

Since BYU just installed a permanent display of the evolution of humankind in their Bean Museum and because  the theory of evolution is taught at BYU as the primary inception of mankind, a dear friend of mine suggested I submit an abstract for this special issue.  I have great respect for him. He taught for the Church Education System, was in the Stake Presidency with me, was a Mission President, and an executive secretary for a General Authority.  At his suggestion, I have prepared the following abstract.

My Expertise

Since I am not a biologist, how can I share anything meaningful about evolution?  We will see!  My expertise is precise timing – having helped with the development of GPS and official atomic time for the USA and the world.  I have witnessed a billion-fold improvement in the accuracy and stability of timekeeping, as the world moved from astronomical time to atomic time starting in 1967 with the redefinition of the “second” in terms of the Cs-133 hyperfine quantum transition.  It has been exciting to be part of this community.

My ORAL HISTORY has been recorded by the IEEE.1 (The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.) For this Abstract, I have applied my scientific background as a time metrologist to the theory of evolution.

The Theory of Organic Evolution

Every scientist knows a theory or hypothesis cannot be proven true.  Data consistency does not prove it true.  Data correlation does not provide validation.  But a theory or hypothesis can be proven false, if reliable falsification data exist.  This falsification standard is very powerful in determining the TRUTH, since it does provide proof of what is not true.  This gauge can be applied to Darwin’s theory of organic evolution.

How to Increase Your Faith in God

Faith and Belief in God and Jesus Christ seem to be waning quickly. Many are gravitating toward secularism and materialism, a belief system that rejects religion, or the belief that any religion should not be part of their lives or the affairs of the state. Christianity, as well as other religions are declining.  I write this to counter this dangerous trend.

The Need for Faith in Religion and Science

Ironically, I show in my book that scientists need to have faith as well. In 1931 Kurt Gödel proved the famous inconsistency theorem, which in essence says that science cannot prove the consistency of a system; or in other words, they need to have faith in some set of assumptions or axioms.  Even though science seems to be about facts, faith is needed there as well, even though they will not admit it.

In general, we cannot absolutely-publicly prove God in this mortal sphere; He designed it that way. God wants us to start by faith, and grow in faith, until we come to know Him personally.

Jesus Christ has offered us eternal life, the greatest of all the gifts of God, if we will believe in Him. (John 3:16)  Because we are given free choice (agency), we can choose to accept that invitation or not.  That choice to believe in Him  is the most important choice you will make in this life.  You already made that choice to follow Jesus before you were born; else, you would not be here.

Below, I share evidence for you to believe and receive the enormous blessings that will be yours as you accept His invitation to hearken to His voice and have a fullness of joy and eternal life as promised by Him.

While most of us live by faith, many prophets have come to know God face to face.  We have their testimonies and many have been martyred because they would not deny what they knew.

Jesus said, “If any man will do his will [God’s], he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or I speak of myself.” (John 7:17)  It is my personal experience that this statement is true.  I know God lives and loves us, and I share the following to help you know that.
