The Vernal or Spring Equinox

Spring Equinox The Vernal Equinox is the moment in the Spring when the spin axis of the Earth is exactly at 90 degrees to the line between the Earth and the Sun. For 2018 it is 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. As the sun crossed the celestial equator, heading northward, both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres will experience an equal amount of daylight hours.

A Common Holiday

Is there a common holiday for Muslim, Jew, and Christian?

We learned while on our mission in West Africa that the most important holiday for the Muslims is “The Feast of the Sacrifice,” (Eid Al-Alha), which commemorates Father Abraham offering his son (for them it is Ishmael), and the date for this is always in the Spring of the year. To this day each year for Eid Al-Alha, the devout Muslims sacrifice a ram.

The Jews celebrate Passover in the Spring of the year – a very important celebration as they were delivered by Jehovah through Moses out of bondage in Egypt.

Christians celebrate Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Christ, according to the dictum of the 325 AD Council of Nicaea as the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox.

The Blessing of Abraham – The Great Gathering

abraham covenant its about timeIn the blessing of Abraham it declares: “In thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” (Gen. 22:18.)

In God’s timing, we are entering that epoch when the First is becoming the Last.  The Arab nations are descendants of Abraham, and now, more and more of them are coming to Christ.  Afshin Javid was visited by Jesus, and he is now having great success in bringing other Muslims to Christ.  The Lord is reaching out to all nations to gather scattered Israel and fulfill the promises made to Abraham

Devout Muslim Coming to Christ – A Remarkable Story

Our youngest daughter, McKaylee, shared this remarkable story with us.  If you watch it, in 73 minutes you see and hear how Afshin Javid, an Iranian most-devout Muslim came to know Jesus. I learned a lot about the Muslim beliefs, customs, and traditions in hearing his story.  It is a most incredible story.

Here I share it in summary.

Israelite and Egyptian Connections to Ancient Earthworks near Newark, OH, USA

Unveiling God’s Plan and Commandments

In 1848, Squier and Davis documented in their book, Ancient Monuments of The Mississippi Valley, the largest (4 1/2 square miles) geometric earthwork complex in the world which is located near Newark, Ohio.  (For your study, a large copy of this earthwork is at the bottom of the page.)

They documented these remarkable earthworks only a year after the Mormons entered the Salt Lake Valley.  Constructed by Native Americans nearly two thousand years ago, Dr. Bradley T. Leper, curator of the Ohio historical society says of it, “This is as inspiring as sending a man to the moon,” and rivals any other architectural achievement [in the world].  In the same area have been found a stone with the Ten Commandments written on it in ancient block Hebrew.  In addition, DNA studies show Israelite ancestors of these Native Americans.

Revelations 12 – War In Heaven

In Revelations 12:1-9 we read about the war in heaven. On September 23, 2017, we witnessed this chapter played out in the heavens; this amazing sign of the virgin (Virgo) giving birth to the man child (Jupiter). A woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of stars on her head, crying out in pain as she was about to give birth, and Satan, who did not prevail, trying to destroy the "man child, " or the coming forth of a pure society.

This Sign in the Heavens is NOW Being Played Out Before US

Because of current events is why it is EXTREMELY important to understand WHY the “WAR in HEAVEN” TOOK PLACE; we read:
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”  (Revelations 12:7-9)

How Do I Receive Personal Revelation

What does personal  revelation mean? One definition of personal revelation is: “Direct communication from god to an individual.” As a scientist, I say that personal revelation is like having your own GPS connected to Heavenly Father. You may ask, How do I receive personal revelation and tap into to my unique GPS.  Let me explain:

GPS

GPS is a great tool, and it was exciting being part of its development. It allows us to find our way in this physical universe of time and space. However, time and space are mortal constraints and can be a distraction if we become to dependent upon them.  Personal revelation is not limited by time nor space. God and His angels are not limited in time and space; neither need we be.

My Personal Revelation GPS Experience

While on a business trip, I found that I have a personal GPS that is more fine tuned than any physical tool, such as a GPS receiver or a cell phone .

In 2015 I was invited to give a key note talk, write a paper, and chair a panel at an international navigation conference in St. Petersburg, Russia.  My initial feelings were not to go. That represented a lot of work and traveling at my age is not easy; plus, I would know very few people there as it was not the time and frequency community, which is where I have spent my career.

Handel’s Messiah – My Epiphany

The magic of Handel's Messiah's first presentation
The magic of Handel’s Messiah’s first presentation

I wrote about how Handel’s Messiah is the greatest music ever written.  Here I share a Epiphany that I had and I hope lifts you as it did my.  I also share here the fantastic performance by Vaclav Lucs in Prague. with over 3 million views.  Even atheists love it; it touches their souls.

We See God’s Hand in the Details

We would not have Handel’s Messiah without the 78 verses of scripture compiled under inspiration by Charles Jennens. He wrote a friend in July 1741, “Handel says he will do nothing next winter, but I hope I shall persuade him to set another Scripture Collection I have made for him…  I hope he will lay out his whole Genius and Skill upon it, that the Composition may excel all his former Compositions, as the Subject excels every other Subject.  The Subject is Messiah.”

Jennens had the best education and was wealthy and very devout. He took great solace in the scriptures, but because of his protestant views, he could never serve in the government, as he would not take vows of allegiance to the English royalty.  He never married and spent his energies in the scriptures.

Handel was at the lowest point in his career – having been rejected by the London community.  It was 18 months after receiving the libretto, “Collection of Scriptures,” from Jennens that he picked them up to put them to music. Twenty-four days later we have this major miracle of it being completed.  All who knew him and were associated with him knew there was divine assistance.

Susannah Cibber, who was the most famous actress in London at the time, had been scandalized by the newspapers.  She had gone through some horrible abuse by the media and by her husband.  Her angelic contralto voice had touched Handel deeply, and she sang the longest aria in the Messiah (He was despised… Rejected…) at its debut in Dublin, Ireland – most fittingly – during Easter week in 1742.

After Susannah had finished her aria, Dr. Reverend Patrick Delaney was so moved, he stood and declared, “Woman, for this, be all thy sins forgiven.”  Most appropriately, Handel and the performers gave their services, and the proceeds were used to free 142 people from debtor’s prison.

My Epiphany

Beethoven said of Handel, “He is the master of us all.”  My epiphany was in looking at the history of this whole event. You can see the hand of the Lord orchestrating the union of the greatest composer, with the greatest scriptorian, with the greatest contralto. Together, they reached deep into our emotions to give us a most meaningful taste of the infinite suffering of our Savior.  And, of the 77 scriptures utilized by Jennens, most of them are from the Old Testament pointing to their fulfillment in the New Testament.

He  included our day and His glorious Second Coming, when He shall reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords. The “sting” of death is swallowed up in Him.  “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Taken together, these scriptures prove the Bible cannot be a myth, but is tied with the ‘Old and the New’, validating that the many prophecies were fulfilled and giving us hope of the best future we could imagine for the purpose of planet earth.

King George II was at the performance of the Messiah in London, and was so moved during the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus that he stood in reverence to a King greater than he.  Everyone else stood, and thus started the tradition.

Anyone studying these Messiah scriptures and listening to the most profound music wrapped around them, who has integrity, will come to know of not only their diving origin but of this our transcendent Savior who was and is and is to come.  His mission is the most important as He has fulfilled, is fulfilling, and will fulfill the will of the Father to give us the greatest hope and to show us the path back to the Father and a fullness of joy.

Christmas – Gospel of Good News

Christmas is a wonderful time to share the “Gospel of Good News” and I would like to share a brief account of my conversion to Christ. It has do with my losing most my hearing in my left ear, for which I’m grateful and I will tell you why. First, let me give you a bit of background which taught me that the Lord’s ways are not man’s ways.

My Way

After graduating from BYU, I accepted a job at the National Bureau of Standards, where they would pay my tuition to the University of Colorado, if I worked full time. We had a goal to get a doctorate and come back and teach at BYU.

However, I was in no hurry; we were raising our family, were active in the church, and helped build a chapel in Boulder and the Denver West Stake Center in Arvada for our church. I also taught at the university.

In 1965, I was working on my master’s thesis toward understanding how to best use atomic clocks, as they were relatively new at that time. It was a challenging problem, and classical theories were not adequate for the task.

Inspiration for Book Cover

God inspired me to write the book, It’s About Time, and the following tells you of the inspiration He gave us for the cover of the book along with the Title and subtitles appropriate to the content.

My dear friend, Chauncey Riddle, called me and asked, “Where did you get the cover for your book?” I replied that I had given some ideas to our grand-daughter,
Rachel Oliveri, and son-in-law, Kevn Lambson,  and they created the art work and layout.  He informed me that he had been shown that the eight-pointed star is the star of Christ.

Star of Christ

I find this most profound. I see the vertical and horizontal rays of the
star are symbolic of the cross of Christ. As He was lifted up upon the
cross, then the other four rays denote Him drawing all men unto Him from the
four-corners of the earth (John 12:31-34; 3 Nephi 27:13-22). Notice, the
vertical ray comes up out of the darkness up to a shining light —
symbolizing Him bringing us out of darkness as we follow the light of
Christ.

Star of David

The Israelis invited me to help them develop their atomic-clock official
timing system. While there I learned of the significance of the Star of
David. The triangle pointing up denotes us praying to God. The triangle
pointing down denotes God talking to us. When the two come together, then
we have God in our midst or the ideal Zion society.

It’s About Time Book

The book tells what to do to be part of the Bride to meet the Bridegroom and have that society. The Roman numeral clock gives the feeling of coming from ancient time to now
as we prepare for His glorious Second Coming and you will learn from the
book where we are in God’s time – the most exciting time in history.

The grid denotes space. The book shares how we can transcend space and time
and move into the fifth dimension where God and His angels do their work to
bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of Father’s precious sons and
daughters, whose children we are with the potential to become like our
Heavenly Parents.

The book teaches how to tap into this dimension, where we
can learn the TRUTHs of God. Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation and
exaltation is perfect in the midst of all our imperfections. INSPIRING AND
MARVELOUS! All that He does is motivated by love; how to love is the core
message of the book. Therein is the greatest joy in time and in eternity.

Putting God First – Our Medium of Exchange

How do we best pay the Lord?
What will replace the dollar on earth?
What is the exchange medium in heaven?

We modern mortals pay with money. As you will see, there are other choices, and what we chose can make an enormous difference in our eternal destiny. Now, typically, we work for money so we can buy things and sustain out lives.

As Christians, we have the remarkable truth that salvation is a free gift because of the atonement of our Lord and Savior. Our best pay to Him in deepest gratitude is to live and share His glorious gospel message on both sides of the veil.
