Facing Crossroads in Times of Change

We are at a great crossroads, a point in life when important decisions are being made world-wide. What is being chosen? What is the foundation for making individual decisions? What is the basis for decisions made by leaders? Alas, the Lord has prophesied of “a great division.” (2 Nephi 30:10)  I believe we are there. We are fast approaching the ultimate consequences of a great division among humanity.

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Matt. 24:24)

Who are “They” who WILL deceive?

  • “They” are the “elite,” who seek for power, gain, and control over the masses with pride in their hearts thinking they know better than everyone else.
  • “They” are religious leaders who point to themselves, and do not point their congregations to Christ first, leaders who no longer refer to God’s word for their source of inspiration — and teach instead the “philosophies… of men.” (Colossians 2:8)
  • “They” are educational institutions providing instruction contrary to the scriptures. Organic evolution is one of their tools that has led countless millions down the road to atheism.  Science is their god.
  • “They” are political leaders who have forgotten that the liberty America has enjoyed is based on Biblical ethics.
  • “They” are technocrats, who believe technology will save the world.
  • “They” are those who believe there is no God, and no devil, but they are willing to follow the anti-Christ when he comes, and he is coming soon, as part of this “crossroads.”

“They Shall Deceive The Very Elect,” But The Elect Need Not Be Deceived:

  • Those who are true followers of Christ, “chosen, of God, and precious.” (1 Peter 2:1-9)
  • “And whoso treasureth up my words, shall not be deceived. (JS Matthew 24:30)  Notice, this translation uses the word “shall,” which is a sure thing in the Lord’s arithmetic.
  • Christ is the “Word” (John 1:1), and His words only are the “Way,” “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Farther, but by me.” (John 14:6)  The early Christians called the Church, “The Way.”

The Sacrament and the Resurrection

We ask the question, “Does the sacrament, and the scriptures describing its great importance, tie to the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior?”

All who know the scriptures know how important the sacrament is for turning our hearts to what Christ has done for us, is doing for us, and will do for us. Similarly, all who know the scriptures know that the resurrection is the best-documented miracle in the history of the earth, and it is the capstone to the seven steps of the infinite atonement  wherein Jesus brought to perfection Heavenly Father’s Plan of Happiness.

The Gospel of John

Last Sunday, as part of our home sacrament meeting worship service, we pursued that question.  We read chapters 6 and 7 and 17 in the gospel of John.

As Jesus prayed as recorded in John 17, that prayer was fulfilled in part with the people here in America as he visited them after His resurrection and introduced the sacrament to them.  He also shared the Sermon on the Mount  with also similar words, but with some significant differences (3 Nephi 12, 13, 14) as he did with the Hebrews in the Holy Land (Matt. 5-7).  They internalized his teachings and the sacred promises he gave with the sacrament and they became a pure-in-heart (Zion) people.  The description of how they were filled with His light in answer to His prayer in John 17 is beautifully shared in Chapter 19 of Third Nephi.

Be Not Deceived

“Whosoever Treasureth Up My Word
Shall Not Be Deceived”

This promise in the title is repeated three times in scripture (JS Matthew 24:30; JS Mark 13:26; JS-M 37).  Satan is the great deceiver, and to be not deceived by him is of paramount importance in our path to eternal life.  This promise is ours as we “treasureth up my word, “ we shall not be deceived.  How important is that?  In further profoundness, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6) And “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (8:12)  The ancient church used to be called, “THE WAY!”

What is God’s Word?

When He says, “…my word…” what does He mean?  If we ask most people, “What is God’s word?” they would say, “It is the Bible!”  When we think about it, we come up with some interesting and very relevant questions as to what He may mean by, “my word.”
Certainly, we know God’s word is His word coming from His mouth; it is pure Truth, because He cannot speak otherwise. In fact, He doesn’t even need to speak; He can communicate mind to mind in purity.  Many prophets and prophetesses over the ages have had the privilege of hearing His word – pure and sweet.  How grateful we should be for His word coming from Him.  We should especially be grateful for truths that have been restored in this “Promised Land” of America complementing the Bible.

COVID-19 – Turning Bad Into Good

The Covid-19 pandemic has gotten the world’s attention.  And I am here to give you HOPE!  In my experience, God is the Master of turning “bad” into good.  We all have bad things happen to us.  I have learned that life’s challenges can be great teachers, if we try to look at lessons learned from God’s perspective, as best we can.  After a heart attack requiring quadruple open-heart surgery, three strokes, two blood clots in my lungs, and several other challenges, I would not trade any of these experiences because of the lessons I learned and God’s healing powers along the way.  I know God is lovingly in the details of our lives.  I am happily still riding my mountain bike at age 83 with all the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits.  Chapter 2 of my book explains why bad things happen.

The Master Physicist

I have learned that the Lord is also the Master physicist, and it has been my privilege over my career path “standing on the shoulders of giants” in my field of expertise of precise timing and with wonderful Divine assistance to help in the development of the nation’s and the world’s official atomic clock timing systems  and to also help in the development of GPS .  I thank the Lord and humbly share the following — giving honor to Him who knows all things.  I have learned over time, that if I get stuck in a question or problem, and have done all I can to solve it, I can get on my knees and pray to the Greatest Scientist of All—even our loving, wise, all-powerful and knowing, Heavenly Father. God. Anyone can.

Joseph Smith, Jr. lived in the early-1800s, and through him, the Lord restored the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to bless all mankind.  In answer to young Joseph’s humble prayer as a 14-year old boy, Joseph had a grand epiphany in which our Heavenly Father and His Son appeared to him in a vision, thus commencing the “Marvelous work and a wonder” prophesied of by Isaiah (Isa. 29).  And now the world is the beneficiary of this “opening of the heavens”. As a scientist, I find it interesting that the ancient prophet Enoch prophesied the actual date of this vision. He lived more than 4,000 years before Joseph’s heavenly vision, where Joseph learned about the true nature of our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ, His son—as two distinct Beings.

Miraculously Joseph translated from ancient records the Book of Mormon into English to be a second witness with the Bible that Jesus is the Christ.  Now the Book of Mormon is in 110 languages and going across the globe telling of the resurrected Christ’s visit to America – totally authenticating the Bible story of His glorious resurrection. His resurrection is the best-documented miracle in history, which is part of His infinite atonement.

Lessons Learned From The Pandemic

What lessons have you learned from the pandemic?  We trust in the Lord regardless of life’s challenges – knowing that glorious days are ahead, despite the secular world turning from God and believing that science –rather than God– can save them.  I believe we can know of the future by reading and listening to His word in the Holy Scriptures, including the Book of Mormon, with much more clarity than we can learn from the media!  We can know that this pandemic is a temporary thing!

I also know that God loves you. He is your Heavenly Father and mine.  He knows our pains and struggles and trials.  God created  our first parents in His image as described in Genesis 1:27-28. I know personally that He hears and answers prayers; He has so promised (Matthew 7:7-8) and His promises are sure.  He answers every sincere prayer, but it will be in His time and in His way because He knows what is best for us –and has an eternal perspective.  He taught us a pattern of prayer in the Lord’s Prayer found in Matthew 6:5-13, in the Holy Bible.

To me, one of the most exciting dimensions of the Lord’s prayer is that God is asking us to pray that His Kingdom will come on earth “as it is in heaven”, and now, we live in the days when that is going to happen! In the middle of the bad, comes the good.  He intends that a ZION society (a pure in heart people) will come out of the hard times and those that choose to live right, will be included— it will be glorious! All that dwell“in Zion” will be motivated by the pure love of Christ.  Civilizations throughout history have achieved this state of happiness, Enoch’s City was one of them–they followed a formula to get to that state of happiness.  And the most exciting thing is that we can be part of it, as we truly come to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who is the King of Heaven and Earth (Matthew 11:28-30; John 14:6).

The scriptures tell of the “great and dreadful day of the Lord”.  It will be a GREAT day for the righteous, who repent of all their sins and come unto Him – out of the world and away from its wickedness — and a dreadful day for the “wicked”; they who have turned their back on their own Redeemer, Jesus Christ—and God that sent Him to raise us from the dead back to our heavenly home. We get to choose.  Now we have our millennial’s, many of whom are good people doing good things, but see the inconsistencies and hypocrisy in current Christianity and become non-believers.  God knows our hearts and His mercy extends to all who are striving to do good.

Who Can You Trust?

Now concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, based on my research of several who are now involved with “guiding the public”, I’ve discovered that some of them have less than honest objectives that simply do not promote health, well-being, and liberty–as given to us by God–and as stated in our inspired USA Declaration of Independence and Constitution.  And they have no problem trampling on our God-given liberty.

And on the other hand, many are coming forward with sound scientific data—only to be silenced by the “elites”.  As I have studied their life’s work and scientific data, the second group, have an honest concern and care for our health.  This health crisis has turned into a kind of battle where controlling people, is more important than actual sound scientific health data. Regardless of what these “elites” say, GOD designed all mankind to be sovereign, as individuals. Not under some oppressive government (2 Nephi 2:25-27).  I also hold to the belief that  free choice—the ability to act and not be acted upon—is fundamental to our Heavenly Father’s perfect plan of happiness.

I HOPE and PRAY that in these “last days” –before the coming of the Son of God –that each of you will come to know the Father and the Son,  which is eternal life and a fullness of joy with God and our loved ones (John 17:3).   What can be better than that?  I also believe that God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. And just like the children of Israel at the time of Moses –where he rescued them from bondage and a tyrannical government, God can literally “put a shield around us, as He did them”—as we pray to Him in faith—and that with His power, will protect us against all the “fiery darts of the adversary.” (Ephesians 6:16)

To me, the” signs of the times” are evident, and God is hastening His Great work.  Are there huge challenges ahead?  YES!  But each challenge will add to our character and we will be offered the opportunity to join the Noble Ones as we strive to ever draw closer to Him. The faithful followers of Jesus Christ will grow in amazing dimensions of light and truth, where what we ask, will be given! And those that follow the Son of God will become His People. Healthy, liberated, and happy — becoming one with the Father and the Son, as Jesus prayed in His last prayer recorded in John 17!

I know in whom we can trust and there I find peace, love, and joy in spite of life’s storms.

P.S.  Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D., is a senior research scientist at MIT. She testified before a congressional hearing regarding the dangers of glyphosate.  She believes glyphosate and COVID-19 may be connected.  She just wrote a fascinating research paper on this extremely important topic In it, she asks the loaded question:

Why no COVID-19 in Bhutan?
Bhutan is a landlocked country in the eastern Himalayas, bordered by Tibet and India. The population of Bhutan is a little over 807,000 people.

As of this writing in early April 2020, only four cases of COVID-19 have been reported for Bhutan, two of whom were visiting foreigners. Bhutan has embraced the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s first 100% organic nation. Is it possible that there is so little COVID-19 because Bhutan’s people aren’t being over-exposed to glyphosate?

If you have the theory that COVID-19 is contagious to everyone, then if the people of Bhutan were exposed and didn’t get the disease, you have proven the theory false.  It seems probable that having a strong immunity system is extremely important.  We can imagine a world free of toxins and eating healthy organic foods in loving relationships with Christ-centered motivations; it is called ZION and there will be no disease and the Lord “will wipe away all tears” (Revelations 7:17; 21:4)!  The Lord has promised that for the faithful.  It is exciting to know that it is coming and soon!

Handel’s MESSIAH Off the Charts!

And were Angels Present?

When George Frideric Handle composed his now world famous oratorio in 1741, I wonder if he had any idea it would become the most performed and popular piece of music ever.  As an example, recently 2000 voices from around the world joined the Tabernacle Choir on Temple Square to sing the famous Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah.  Handel’s first performance had an electrifying effect on the audience when it was performed most appropriately on Easter Sunday the following year in Dublin, Ireland.  Amazingly, the text prepared by Charles Jennens if studied is also preparing us for the Lord’s Second Coming.

A Profound Experience

On Good Friday this year (10 Apr.’20), the Tabernacle Choir on Temple Square released their performance of Handel’s Messiah, recorded in 2018.  Last Sunday, as part of my Easter worship, thinking about the glorious resurrection of our Lord, I listened to this performance.  I was deeply touched, mind, body, and spirit with what I felt, heard, and witnessed.  I was in tears of gratitude to the depths of my soul for what our Savior has done for us, is doing, and will do as echoed in this most significant oratorio ever composed.

The Spirit whispers to us what is true and of God.  The witness I received of the Divine nature of this oratorio and the message it shares with the world was one of the most profound I have ever received.  THANK YOU, LORD!  HE IS COMING as echoed in this magnificent oratorio!

Angelic Assistance

I believe the Lord and His angels were with Handel as he wrote this most inspired oratorio, as he himself said, “I did think I did see all heaven before me, and the great God himself.”  Angelic assistance is there for all of us as we ask, seek, and knock (Matt. 7:7-8; 2 Nephi 32:2-3), as it was with me last Sunday.  Afshin Javid, a Muslim from Iran, was converted to Christ, and shared stories from the Bible with his fellow Iranians without having a Bible – undoubtedly enlightened by the Lord’s angels.

In a blog article http://itsabouttimebook.com/remarkable-angel-assistance-stories/, I share the remarkable story of Srinivasa Ramanujan (Ra-ma-nu’-dzen) from Madras, India.  Ramanujan was a deeply religious Hindu who credited his world-renown mathematical capacities to divinity – revealed to him by a family goddess [angelic assistance].  “An equation for me has no meaning,” he once said, “unless it expresses a thought of God.”

I believe the Lord and His angels inspired me to write my book www.ItsAboutTimeBook.com, which shares with the world many instances in my life of angelic assistance.  In my career path, I have said, “I have been privileged to stand on the shoulders of giants,” but most importantly I believe the Lord has given me great angelic assistance because of my desire to share His glorious gospel message, to help bring people to Christ, to harmonize true science and true religion, to combat the satanic encroachment on Christianity, and help the Father in bringing about the work of the covenants in preparation for the Glorious return of His Beloved Son.

I believe there was major angelic assistance as the Tabernacle Choir pulled together and shared this — close to perfection — performance of this most important oratorio to help us know the Lord.  I believe further that you, my reader, and all who listen, as I did last Sunday, will have angelic assistance to help you and them appreciate the great importance of the message shared in these inspired musical phrasings and in these inspired lyrics.

Most Important Celebration – Easter

The Glorious Resurrection of our Lord

Most don’t realize that the Lord’s glorious resurrection is the capstone to His infinite atonement, and when it occurred 2000 years ago the early saints were beyond rejoicing as they witnessed the risen Lord.  For Christ to go from infinite suffering to infinite glory in those three days changed their lives and the world forever.  The early Christians could not contain their joy knowing, “He is risen!” – as proclaimed in their lives, as they lived and shared this most astounding message of hope.  Because of the paramount importance of the infinite atonement, I believe Easter should be our most important celebration and with great rejoicing.

The gospel is not only the “good news;” it is the BEST NEWS, because everyone will be resurrected, and if we live the gospel we have the hope of a fullness of joy in the life to come.  Handel’s oratorio “Messiah” has touched millions of lives with this message: “HALLELUJAH!…For now is Christ risen from the dead… Since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive…  Death is swallowed up in victory…  Worthy is the Lamb.”

The growth of the early Christian Church – known as “The Way” (John 14:6) – was spectacular with this testimony of the risen Lord deep in their hearts and in spite of terrible persecutions.  Mary Magdalene, who first saw the risen Lord, brought hundreds into the fold of God.  Most modern Christians have lost the valiancy of the early saints, who saw the risen Lord or personally knew those who had seen Him.

Two Hearts and Two Minds

Today’s article is a guest post by my friend, Chauncey C. Riddle.  He taught at BYU for 40 years, serving as a Professor of Philosophy, Chairman of the Department of Graduate Studies in Religious Instruction, Dean of the Graduate School, and Assistant Academic Vice President.  He has written articles for the Ensign, This People, FARMS, and Sunstone, just to name a few.

I was so impressed with the article below, HEART & MIND, by Chauncey Riddle that I asked his permission to share it.  He explains the importance of our two hearts and two minds.

I find it fascinating that scientists have shown that the mind is both inside and outside the body, which I believe is the spirit mind to which Chauncey refers. Our spirit-brain has a direct umbilical-cord connection to God with no speed-of-light delay.  The line is open 24/7, and He always hears every sincere prayer. The existence of diallel-field-lines that makes this communication possible,

Muslim Ideology Differences

Muslim, Islam, Islamic, versions of the Quran, sharia law, jihad, dawah

The above words have very different meanings, and there are a lot of misunderstandings of them. Muslim varied ideology has led US policy makers down harmful and destructive paths.  Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an Islam defector, who testified before a Senate hearing, gives important insights into the deep meanings of these words in her book, The Challenge of Dawa.

She divides the 1.9 billion Muslims on the planet into three kinds. 1. She calls them “Medina Muslims” wanting to carry forth the seventh-century mentality imposing their beliefs on everyone; they are the most problematic.  2. She calls the “Mecca Muslims” composing the clear majority wanting to be peaceful. 3. Muslim reformers – knowing that changes are needed.

The Quran coming from Mecca is religious. Ten years later as Mohammad went to Medina the Quran included political and military overtones. In 1981, I was invited to give a talk in New Delhi, India.  Islam is the second largest religion there, and I learned from their history how the first kind of Muslims mentioned above had imposed their religion on the population of India.

The Hoover Institution Think Tank

The Hoover Institution at Standford University is a public policy think tank promoting the principles of individual, economic, and political freedom.  It is one of the top “think tanks” in the nation. Peter Robinson, who is with the Hoover Institution, is currently the host of Uncommon Knowledge.

Robinson, is a particularly interesting guy. He wrote the famous speech for President Reagan when he declared, “Yes, this wall will fall”, and that, “As long as this gate is closed, as long as this scar of a wall is permitted to stand, it is not the German question alone that remains open, but the question of freedom for all mankind.”

I knew nothing of dawa (dawah) until I heard Peter Robinson interview Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who defected from Islam to escape a forced marriage.   Much can be learned about Ms. Ali in her Wikipedia article.

What is Dawa?

As developed by Mohammed in Mecca and in Medina, Islam is a religion but it is also has a political and a military agenda in its goal of converting the world to Allah.  “The ultimate goal of dawa is to destroy the political institutions of a free society and replace them with the rule of sharia law.” (p3, THE CHALLENGE OF DAWA by Ayaan Hirsi Ali) Her book can be downloaded for free from the Hoover Institution.

Because Islam is a religion it has the protection of the US First Amendment, and now uses any means, which can include political activities, indoctrination using the media, cultural activities, educational activities, and jihad terrorist activities, as examples to achieve its goals.

Because of this broad base of activities, Islam through dawa has much more power than communism or Nazism to achieve its proselytizing goals using force or by whatever means.  When Ms. Ali testified in a US Senate hearing she declared “The biggest challenge the United States faces is combating political Islam and the extent to which agents of dawa can exploit the constitutional and legal protection that grants American citizens freedom of religion and speech – freedoms that would of course be swept away if the Islamists achieve their goals.”  You can view Ms. Ali’s six minute powerful testimony before the Senate committee, 23 June 2017)

Why Past US Tactics have Failed

As Ms. Ali points out, the Bush and Obama administrations were only adding fuel to the fire by fighting terrorism.  It is a battle of Islam ideology against individual liberty given Americans by the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.  Islam dawa is an ideology, which comprises a religion, a political system, and a military system, again with a design to accomplish their goal by any means “…to destroy the political institutions of a free society and replace them with the rule of sharia law.”  Does it concern us that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world?

She powerfully points out on page 42 of THE CHALLENGE OF DAWA that the moral difference between the constitution of political Islam and the constitution of liberty is: “The US Constitution grants individual human beings natural, inalienable, God-given rights.  The job of the US government is to protect those inherent rights.”  In contrast, she quotes analyst Cheryl Benard that Islam is, “totalitarian in its negation of a private sphere, instead believing that it is the task of state authorities to compel the individual to adhere to proper Islamic behavior anywhere and everywhere.  And ideally, it wants this system – which it believes to be the only rightful one – to expand until it controls the entire world and everyone is a Muslim.”  On page 17 Ms. Ali lists the six main elements of Dawa.  One of which is “to reduce women to the status of reproductive machines for the purpose of demographic transformation.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Answer

The good news of the gospel is, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)  We become free individually from sin as we come unto Him, and are blessed with His promise of a free and sinless society in due process called Zion (the pure in heart).

Because of the inability to do missionary work among the Muslims, the Lord is reaching out to them anyway in fascinating and miraculous ways.  Javid, who was a devout Muslim, is now a devoted Christian missionary having great success.  He reports that there are about a thousand Iranians converting to Christianity each week. I am sure the Lord is having similar success with other Muslim nations.

God loves all of His children, and so should we.  The core principle of Heavenly Father’s perfect plan of happiness is agency (free choice).  This is beautifully explained by the ancient prophet, Lehi (2 Nephi 2:25-27)

Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.  And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall.  And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.  Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man.  And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.

God’s Perfect Plan

Interestingly, in God’s perfect plan – in the midst of all our imperfections – in our premortal sphere all of us born into this world chose to follow Heavenly Father’s plan – knowing that the Messiah would provide a way back to our heavenly home with a glorious resurrected body and an opportunity for a fullness of joy if we would continue to follow Him on our mortal journey.  Because God is perfect, the Apostle Paul tells us that where and when we were born is optimized for our best chances to get back home. (Acts 17:26)  We participated with our Loving Heavenly Father in that choice and our life’s plan. (See Chapter 2 of www.ItsAboutTimeBook.com .

Do we choose to love or not to love?  To love God and our neighbor are His first two great commandments.  How we answer that question makes all the difference in our lives.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest love story ever.  The lack of love and the bigotry between cultures and nations are the main causes of wars.  If we truly love, we will respect the agency (free choice) of all Father’s children.  Anything that takes away from individual liberty and from the nation’s liberty is adversarial. Islam dawa is designed to do just that.

Ironically, Muslim, Jew, and scattered Israel are all the children of Abraham. These children of Israel have been scattered among the Gentiles. However, when studied carefully, all three of their major celebrations are tied to the infinite atonement of the Messiah.

Genesis 22:8 in the Hebrew translates “God will provide himself a lamb…” to provide our Savior’s infinite atonement, so that all three cultures focus on the ONE TRUE GOD.  Only He will bring final peace to all three.

Book of Mormon – Where We Are and What is Coming

On Monday, February 10th 2020, a fireside was held in Fountain Green. Presentations were given by Rod Meldrum of Book of Mormon Evidence and myself.  Rod’s address was entitled “The Book of Mormon Current as the Daily News”. My focus was: “The Book of Mormon tells US Who and Where We are, and What is Coming”.  Here, US means the United States of America as well as “us.”

The Incredible Value of the Book of Mormon

Rod Meldrum and I shared “The Incredible value of the Book of Mormon that tells US where we are and what is coming.”  Again, US stands for United States. The main writers of the Book of Mormon are Nephi, Jacob, Mormon, and Moroni.  They saw our day. What was compiled and written by them is what will best help us prepare for the Lord’s coming – bringing about the fulfillment of the covenants of the Father and gathering Father’s children into the Fold of God that they may partake of a fullness of joy and eternal life.

Fulfilling of Mormon Scripture

Rod shared some amazing insights on how many Book of Mormon scriptures are being fulfilled before our vary eyes. While the media is biased, the scriptures are both clear and accurate. I highly recommend you get Rod’s DVD, which happens to also be the  title of his lecture, “The Book of Mormon Current as the Daily News”. It can be purchased from the bookstore on his site: Book of Mormon Evidence Bookstore.   Note: I have purchased some copies of this particular DVD in bulk and you are welcome to get them from me for $5.00, if it is convenient for you.

The Date of the First Vision

The date of the First Vision of the Prophet Joseph Smith withheld ’til Now!

How many of us heed the Lord’s profound admonition, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matt. 7:7-8)

Ask, Seek, Knock

At age 14 Joseph did ask, seek and knock, and what happened changed the world!  His soul hungered to know the truth and which church was right.  He also wanted to know if his sins were forgiven.  In his asking, seeking, and knocking, James 1:5 touched his heart to the core as he read, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Where he went to inquire of the Lord, we now call it the “Sacred Grove.  He shares, “It was on the morning of a beautiful, clear day, early in the spring of eighteen hundred and twenty.” (JS-H 14)

The First Vision

That spring day, unfolded the most important event since the infinite atonement of our Lord and Savior, as Joseph was visited by Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.  There he came to know the true nature of God; to know the Father and the Son is eternal life. (John 17:3)

Heavenly Father called Joseph by name, and said, “This is my Beloved Son. Hear Him!” (JS-H 17)  He was told they had a work for him to do.  This was the beginning of opening the of Dispensation of the Fullness of Times prophesied by the Apostle Paul. (Eph. 1:10) Because of all the false traditions that had crept into Christianity over the centuries there was a need for a restoration of the fullness of the gospel, “restitution of all things,” before the Second Coming of our Lord, as prophesied by the Apostle Peter. (Acts 3:19-2)
